McCann rn is playing on Seattle first line with linemates Eberle and Schwartz and on their 1st PP unit so of course hes well lul. In hindsight Kerfoot would probs be doing the same if Seattle picked him and McCann playing on our 3rd line would be having a slow start.

So doubt it would make any difference who was chosen

At center position neither is good. McCanns stats come from the time he played as a wing. Theres a reason Pittsburgh went out and got Marleau and Carter at the deadline and why Florida and Vancouver did not like him in that position.

Then you get the oppertunities. McCann is playing top 6 with Schwartz and Eberle and gets PP time. Kerfoot is playing with Nylander but unlike Schwartz and Eberle when Nylander is on your line hes gonna be the one carrying the puck and scoring all the goals.

Either way it would not change anything one would do well with Seattle the other would be bottom 6. If Kerfoot was taken by Seattle probs would see the exact same thing.

I will agree there is nothing that can change. Kerfoot is bad, McCann is good.

In hindsight, it was a real goofy move to trade assets for a player only to lose him in expansion. Why?

Hes better than Kerfoot, its close, but he is better. He also has a much better contract. Kerfoot for 3.5mil based on his production is overpaid and a solid 3rd line guy, but really no further. Holl has been a great find for Toronto, but lets be honest, hes an overage guy who fits very well where he is, on many teams he is not a top 4 guy.

Ultimately, Seattle picked the best option by far, but Toronto by having McCann would have a better forward corps, but weaker defense.

IMO, what ails Toronto is team depth and thats really down to cap space. The fact that fathertime Spezza is the only thing bringing any respect to the Leafs 7-13th forwards illustrates that. The risks, the injured, the retreads are just stop gap pieces that dont offer much. This team goes as far its top 5 forwards and top 3 dmen.
