I wouldn’t trade Jarventie for Nylander

This is an overpayment.

After being sent down to the AHL, Nylander's trade value was sent down with it.

If Logan Brown was still around, I'd offer the Hawks a 1 for 1 swap.



The absolute maximum Ottawa should pay is an expendable defenceman like what Henri Jokiharju was in July of 2019.

But even then ...

Jarventie is expendable. He's pretty far down the depth chart for left wingers on the Sens. Nylander might need a season in the AHL but I think he still has the potential to be a solid 2nd line right winger.

Really effective way to curb a team's potential

Having really good LW depth doesn't make a gem of a prospect expendable: players can easily switch positions, stutz and brady both play c too

Jarventie easily mobile enough to RW as well

Stutzle on his off wing would be neat too

Value >>> position

Ottawa shouldn't be spending a roster player + a prospect we spent a high 2nd on, just because they are expendable.

That seems like a waste.
