From the capitals game I feel like we played well, but our undoing was the lunacy of having Tinordi and Hunt in the lineup, and our iffy special teams. I know the Caps have a really good powerplay, but 3/4 of their goals came on the powerplay, and some of the ones where they didn't score, we were bailed out by Georgiev (who won't be starting against Dallas)
Here's my thinking. Hunt was completely invisible last game, and Tinordi kinda sucked, so bringing in Lundkvist and Gauthier (we'll see what happens with Kravtsov) is obviously something we need to do. Gauthier would go well with Chytil and Goodrow on the 3rd line, and Lundkvist should help our attack, put Nemeth in a better position, and bolster the 2nd powerplay unit. Plus it'd give us three offensively capable d-pairings. Another thing I thought about was that Chytil's talents are kind of wasted on the 3rd line, so I thought about moving Kreider to the 3rd line, making Goodrow the center, and putting Chytil as the 2C, but him with Gauthier, and maybe Blais on the 3rd line should be good enough.
Either way, the powerplay wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good enough. One of our problems has always been the 2nd, but with the young guys developing, and Lundkvist in the mix it should be better. I think Miller could be a good choice to partner Lundkvist on the powerplay, but I thought Trouba's experience would be better with Lundkvist. If we can figure out the Kravtsov situation, I think he should get some powerplay time but that depends on his development.
My thinking with the PK is that anything would be better than what we saw last game. We know Fox and Lindgren are good together, Lindgren is a great defensive defenseman, and Fox is kinda like Hedman in the way that he's not physical, but he's great at using his reach and stick handling in defensive situations. Nemeth and Miller are both also pretty good defensively, but it's more that I didn't want Trouba or Lundkvist on the PK for obvious reasons. Other than that I don't really know who else, so I just put Zibanejad, Kreider, Goodrow, and Rooney down because why not. As I said, anything would be better than that trainwreck from yesterday. Let's hope we can do something against Dallas tonight.
I think we’re automatically a better team from last night Bc if the additions of nils and goat. Pk is the only thing that concerns me but otherwise we looked great in the 1st so who knows
