SJ declines.

Krav is worth probably a 2nd.
Sj doesn't need a 3rd goalie.
A low second...

Not in the right ballpark. Assume someone is asking for Zibby and trade like that

This is a no-brainer decline. Sharks can do so much better for Hertl.

I think there's a couple of different factors to look at here...

Hertl has a 3 team trade list. We saw last year with Hall what the return is when the team doesn't have a ton of leverage. *IF* he wants out, sure, he might expand that list. There's really no indication that he does want to leave though, so until he does, the return likely gets muted a bit. That being said, the point raised above about goaltenders is correct. They just invested in Reimer/Hill, so there's really no point in adding Georgiev. Plus, he's a below league average goaltender.

I don't disagree that his value should be higher...but that 3 team trade list is pretty dangerous, no?

If he's going to a contender that isn't on his list I am sure he would waive. He wants to win first and foremost.

I guess, but its pretty presumptuous to think NYR is on that list. We really have no idea what it might be

If I we're to guess I'd say Colorado, Vegas and an eastern powerhouse like Boston or NYI

For sure, I have absolutely no idea who he would have on there...for instance, a lot of players list the Canadian teams on their NTC's, mainly due to tax reasons+increased media attention.

See, that's where it gets even more complicated though, right? Team with very little cap space, team with no cap space, team like Tampa that definitely has no cap space.

Edit: Just doing this for the purpose of discussion and healthy debate!

If Hertl is being traded then SJ is throwing in the towel anyway so they'll retain 50% for a better return. Hertl does love SJS and has said it many times, he won't throw the org that got him started under the bus. The possibility of re-signing is still there as well.

He wants to compete for a cup and if the sharks come to him at the TDL and ask him to waive for a contender I’m sure he would do it. I don’t see why he would want to stay on the sharks when they wouldn’t be competing in this scenario.

I'm not saying he wouldn't waive. I'm just saying that he essentially has his pick of the litter, and if that's the direction he goes, it could easily handcuff the Sharks a-la Hall to Boston last year.

Again, not saying that it'll happen, but it's probably best to temper expectations at this point (not that I'd accept that Rangers deal). Without the NTC, sure, he could absolutely net a haul.

Someone will pay for Hertl. Maybe a contender loses a top six center for the season and the window is closing soon, so many scenarios possible. Doug Wilson is a bad contact negotiator but he's always been excellent at trades. The sharks will get a great deal for Hertl, the most popular player in the team. The low-ball offers on here are pure comedy to me and other sharks fans.

As a Ducks fan, I'd like to see us both get back to contention. A good return on Hertl would certainly be a good start for you guys. I've got cousins that grew up in Saratoga who are huge Sharks fans, so with us both in the basement, I kind of miss the banter at this point tears of joy

Kravtsov and Georgiev are commonly overpriced in trades here. As does Hertl. But he certainly gets at least the 1st included.

I'm a Denver based Sharks fan so I am surrounded by Avs fans (and a lot of Wild fans here too, weirdly) so I just get laughed at when I wear my Sharks swag to bars for game night... Luckly Avs fans are pretty cool. I used to live in Chicago and their fans are not cool.

But yeah I miss the old Getzlaf-Thornton battles. Soon it'll be Eklund-McTavish and Bordeleau-Comtois battles smile It'll be sooner than we think!
