Is this serious? There's zero percent chance like ever Minnesota would ever ever say yes. This is a really bad crappy proposal, and one that makes zero sense

Matt Murray sucks. He's no longer good. Gm Guerin passed on him when he had chance to trade for him in Minnesota. No chance Minnesota will want him with his contract, and cost

1. Chicago declines

2. The trade with Tampa does not make any sense for either team.

3. Minnesota declines as well.

Horrible ideas with Minny and Lightning.

I could maybe go for the Strome trade, I could see the 3rd line of Formenton - Strome - Sokolov, and while I think White could be expendable, I would rather try to get it done with Sanford, Watson, and Picks, if you can throw Del Zotto in there go for it.

White I think does still has value as a Paul - White - Brown line would be an amazing shut down line with some offensive up side.

What? How does this make the Wild a better team? Giving Talbot away as an early Christmas gift? That makes no sense, whatsoever.

Damn, that Tampa trade is literally my hockey dream right now

- Holden and Josh Brown are UFAs to be. They wouldn't be here next season anyway
- The cost to acquire 2 solid D-men would be a 2024 1st round pick (OTT) and 2022 3rd round pick (BOS), which is not much because our first shouldn't be early by 2024
- Finally someone good to play with Chabot (although maybe Zub succeeds in this role this year) but look at that top-4 below :

Chabot-Cernak
McDonagh-Zub
Mete/Sanderson-Zaitsev
Del Zotto

- Trade Brannstrom for help at forward
- Eventually trade Mete because Sanderson will be there, or actually keep him as the cheap/young/fast 7th D-man
- Eventually find a way to trade Zaitsev to leave a spot for JBD/Thomson. Take some salary for a veteran forward for example.
- Del Zotto is still an useless signing no matter what

I understand why Wild fans wouldn't want to make that deal but I think he could actually thrive on their team because they are well structured with a good mix of youth and veterans. Not something you could see/know just by looking at recent numbers on hockeydb though (like most people do lol), so I wouldn't blame anybody to not believe in this

1. McDonagh has a NTC and he won't be waiving it to go from Tampa to Ottawa.

2. McDonagh has negative value because he is a cap dump and last night's game against Pittsburgh proves that.

3. It was a bad contract when McDonagh signed it in 2018 and it is even worse nowadays.

4. We are really clogged on the left side of our defence and McDonagh worsens that predicament.

5. The only good piece that Ottawa is getting from this is Cernak.

6. The 2024 1st is not lottery protected and it's possible Uncle Euge runs our team as bad as the Pegulas do in Buffalo, meaning no playoffs until at least 2027.

7. If you're currently a non-playoff team and you want to trade a 1st round pick, you need to get back some amount of certainty and this isn't it.

8. This trade makes even less sense for Tampa than it does for Ottawa and so, this trade never gets off the ground to begin with.

2 Stanley Cups McDonagh where a MAJOR piece of say differently, besides He doesn't allow the Trade . Cernak isn't available.

1. yeah but since these proposals are purely hypothetical, I don't systematically block over these NTCs/NMCs. This is assuming McDo would accept

2. I don't agree he's a cap dump and personally think he would be a great mentor for the young guys. He's still very solid defensively

https://puckprose.com/2021/07/07/tampa-bay-lightning-ryan-mcdonagh-most-underrated-defenseman/

3. It's true that 5 years is a bit too long for my liking. If it was 3 years, then it would be perfect but who knows then? He could be traded/bought out, I don't know. We are paying Zaitsev 4.5 so I don't see that McDo deal as very outrageous. I'd rather get rid of Zaitsev and make that deal so we acquire Erik Cernak in the process.

4. Ryan McDonagh can play RD effectively too. Once Sanderson gets comfortable, Ryan would actually be a great partner for him :

Chabot-Cernak
Sanderson-McDonagh
Mete-Zub

Now that's a defense you could contend with. Mete and Zub are placeholders while JBD and Kleven continue to develop.

5. Cernak is also one hell of a piece. McDonagh is IMO still a very good piece for the next few years (Tampa Bay would NEVER make that deal)

6. If the 2024 1st is still potentially lottery then it's time to fold or move the team to another city. What would even be the point to have a NHL team in that market? We most likely have the best U-25 pool in the whole league AINEC. If we can't do anything with that, BURN THE CTC!

7. same as #6

8. This I agree, as I said in #5, they would never do that. They need these 2 D-men to keep contending
