If Ekholm is traded, what would be the price for montreal, maybe romanov for a start and hoffman maybe? what would you ask

1st + prospect is probably the minimum-- or depending on the prospect, maybe a 2x 2nds or something. And if there is retention, there needs to be proper compensation as well (especially considering Poile has never done that). And if there is an extension in place, that could also affect the return.

The current deal here is a cap dump, a 1st, and a 3rd (but NSH has to wait two years for it...) for retention and they are also giving up a 5th -- this particular deal is pretty much dead on arrival.

I've been a fan of getting Bolduc out of NYI -- maybe Bolduc + 1st or 2x 2nds. Maybe a similar deal with Romanov could be worked out. But NSH has no interest in a long-term contract like Hoffman's.

I think Poile is leaning towards signing him, but Ekholm and his agent put a deadline of game 1 on any new deal -- if not struck by then, they're waiting to negotiate until after the season. That may force Poile's hand...
