Fully understand the ask, but don't think CBJ would want to add VO. Don't have a true need for him, and it just feels like an unnecessary way to increase the price.
I also don't give an unprotected 2022 1st.
My counter is (just for Eichel):
- 2022 2nd;
- 2022 1st (CHI);
- 2023 1st (Maybe top-10/5 protected);
- Foudy;
- Texier;
- Domi, Nyquist (if you guys want either one, or both);
- Voronkov;
This leaves CBJ with forward lines of (or some combination of):
Laine (if he's still around) - Eichel - Voracek
Johnson - Sillinger - Bjorkstrand
Marchenko - Roslovic - Chinakhov
Robinson - Kuraly - Jenner
Again, I understand BUF wanting more. But if I'm CBJ, I'm only picking up Eichel if/when his price comes down. He's an astounding player, but he'd be out for this year due to the procedure, still have some level of uncertainty/ injury concern on his return (to say nothing of the fact he'd likely be almost two years without playing a hockey game by the time he returns), and $10M cap hit. For as good as Eichel is, that is a lot to take on.
