Description
Probably a decent move given Poehling's performance and injuries. A cheap veteran center option we should consider.

Pretty sure the wives of Turris and Hoffman aren’t on the best of terms…

We have the depth to shelter him (and the cap space), unlike Edmonton, where everyone gets buried to give the top 6 offensive zone time.
Worst case, we bury him and it costs us $600k.

If a team were planning on claiming him to play at wing, might be a decent bet for the year, he has looked better there. But when he was at C last year - his skating has deteriorated to the point he just couldn't win races or battles down the middle. Just an FYI - really not the greatest bet if you are thinking he'll mostly play C.

Is his skating that problematic? Poehling is our other option and he's not exactly fleet of foot either.
    Unfortunately we need a C and don't need W.

The other wives supported Karlsson, but the conflict was between the two. Regardless, it's only for 1 year. They don't have to be friends, just leave it behind so your husband doesn't have to play in the AHL riding buses all season.

The level.of slowing down is a problem as he's really not a checker either. He used to rely on decent speed to go along with his high IQ and some skill. Now he doesn't get many moments where he has enough time to use those skills, usually a step behind. Again, on the wing, he seems to get more time to do some good work along the boards and on the cycle. But at C he tends to be chasing the play a lot. But who knows, if he had linemates as skilled as Hoffman and Gallagher, maybe he'd get some more time back. But a risky bet to work out at all.

I think I'd still be willing to give him a shot, based on who's available on waivers anyway. It's worth maybe losing $600k. (I think MB will be seriously considering it anyway.)
