Quoting: knuxles
They would get 6 elite prospects and have 7 1st Round picks in the next 3 years, 5 of which could be top 10
Quoting: Juiceman
But did you think if it would benefit the other teams? Give me one good reason the sens just throw away all those futures?
Exactly like Juiceman said. Like I wrote in another related thread :
I wouldn't trade Pinto + Greig for Monahan, Gaudreau and Hanifin. So imagine adding Formenton, JBD, White and TWO 1st round picks!!!
This deal doesn't make sense because :
- Ottawa is not looking to trade younger cheaper players for older more expensive players (they literally just spent 4 years doing the opposite)
- Hanifin is excellent but not needed in Ottawa with Chabot and Sanderson on LD
- Monahan UFA in 2 years, steep decline the last 2 years, not a speedster, several injuries (reminiscent of Bobby Ryan in his late 20's)
- Gaudreau is UFA at the end of the season. Without a reasonable extension in place, not even worth acquiring for Ottawa
Seriously, Pinto, Greig and Formenton are going to be real good. JBD too to a lesser extent. Plus the 2 first round picks. I'd want 2 young impact players for that package.
Even if you think that Pinto, Greig and Formenton are only worth a 1st round pick (Pinto worth much more than that), you're talking about 6 first round picks... You could get at least 1.5 Eichels with that
