CHI
Thomson, Lassi
2022 3rd round pick (OTT)
OTT
Strome, Dylan
2022 4th round pick (CHI)

My comment

"I do this.

I like Thomson, but Strome is a very good player. He struggled early last season, but did much better after he returned from his concussion. Ottawa needs another good young centre, and can afford to give Thomson."

Colin White will be a UFA after being bought out next summer. He'll sign with someone and be an NHL player for a long time.

Thomson was the forgotten prospect two months ago, and now he's worth more than a former 3rd overall with 200 NHL games? This is the problem with prospects, they are all shiny and new, but a good prospect is just a middle6 forward or second pair defender, Strome is that and more already.

I'd rather give up Tampa's 2nd + one of our 2022 3rds for Strome straight up than just give up on Lassi entirely.

Hawks will want the Sens 2nd, TBL 2nd is basically a 3rd

That's a worse return than getting Thomson, I'd take it too. Thomson isn't enough for Strome and you're negotiating a worse deal, hilarious

You do realize it usually takes a minimum of 3 years to develop a prospect drafted high in the second round?

Not everyone is going to be as lucky as Shane Pinto.

Ottawa needs to compete sooner or later and maybe having a NHL ready player within 2 years like Lassi is better than having none.

Odds that a 2nd round pick plays more than a 100 NHL games are only 35%.

https://dobberprospects.com/2020/05/16/nhl-draft-pick-probabilities/

Lassi Thomson is the guy we drafted with a first round pick after getting burned with the Matt Duchene debacle.

And you give it up just like that?

If Strome is a quality player for you, I wonder who else would qualify.

Here's a question:

Is the difference between Lassi Thomson and a second round pick a 4th round pick?

In other words, does ...

Lassi Thomson - Ottawa's 2nd = Chicago's 4th?

Last time I checked, it costs another 2nd round pick minimum to go from 32nd overall to 19th overall.

https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2020/05/06155402/Screen-Shot-2020-05-05-at-4.55.33-PM.png

And that's assuming Ottawa's 2nd for 2022 is 32nd overall, which it won't be.

I win the Dylan Strome trade hands down while you're getting fleeced.

Welcome to unignore lol.

I responding to sensonfire's comment about late 2nd and 3rd round picks, I would think the Hawks would be listening if it was the Sens 2nd and 3rd rounder though

Is Lassi Thomson minus Ottawa's 2nd worth more or less than Chicago's 4th?

Also, Strome is exactly that.

A middle six forward.

I had to put him on ignore again.

The Hawks would be listening more intently if Thomson was included in the deal, if that's your argument.
