Marody

1. Is likely better than Beagle
2. Looked quite good in preseason
3. Is just moving into his prime atm
4. Is perfectly cost controlled for the team
5. Could be packaged for an actually good player

Why not Johan Larsson there instead of you know who, he's one of the best pure defensive forwards alive, 95th percentile xGA in tough deployment

Columbus has no desire to move Gavrikov right now. Turris has negative value and the prospect is a b-/c level project at best. Thus they decline easily.

Gavrikov's value right now is "go away unless you're giving us an upgrade". We can't spare him at all. An injury would leave our defense in worrisome shape.

Given that, trying to foist Turris on us in the process is the sort of thing that leads to demands for satisfaction.

I'm assuming Lagesson is to make room and that's why you're giving up a 2nd. It doesn't make much sense to give up a young player making under a million especially when you are still over. If your giving up a 2nd for Greiss at the TDL I'd have no problem taking Turris instead of Lagesson.

Jay Beagle has infinitely more playoff experience. He is also a career 56.7% in the faceoff circle compared to Larsson's 49.8%. Experience is what the Oilers need in their bottom 6 imo.

This is a TDL trade and when Columbus is far from a playoff spot I'm sure they will take offers on Gavrikov. Tullio is a B prospect, and has a lot of potential. That 2nd can be a 1st and then I think that's close to an overpay. Turris barely has any negative value because its a cheap 1 year remaining contract.

This is a TDL move as the title of the AGM says. Columbus should be selling at TDL because they will not be close to playoffs

No Lagesson is to add some value, as there is no spot on him for the Oilers but could be a spot in Detroit. Klefbom should be on LTIR so the Oilers have cap space, I just forgot to move him there. Ya maybe something like Turris, 2nd for Greiss 50% retained could work

I would have no problem taking Koskinen back for Greiss if a second is included for him. Turris works as well it don't really matter. Koskinen would probably be better just cause they don't really have anyone other than pickard who could come up and play.

I feel you could redo these trades to be a bit better. Gavrikov isn't going to come cheap, he's been good in Columbus and they can't afford to give him away, plus his contract is quite fair. But when it comes to the Detroit and Arizona trade I would look at maybe just doing Beagle for Marody with no retention as they only have one retention slot left for the year and a fourth doesn't really make it worth while to use. Move Klefbom to LTIR and that gets you your space. Turris can be buried for cheap if need be I believe. But I would do Koskinen and a second for Greiss half retained. Gives Detroit a goalie back they can play for the rest of the year, get a cheaper upgrade for Edmonton. Could add Turris to the Detroit deal don't really matter or maybe Arizona. Probably in the end need to give up more for Gavrikov or else just not get him. Lagesson could still be able to play then or else included for Gav. I might have rambled too much here but that's kind of my thought process on this.

I agree if Edmonton is giving us a 2nd for Greiss we can take someone with a bigger cap hit than Lagesson. Yeah I'd be good with Koskinen as well

Nope. He's one of the current experienced guys being kept around to shelter kids during the building process, and he's young enough that he fits the timeline regardless. And we pretty much solved our prospect supply issues via the Jones trade, so there's no pressure.

Sure, but that's going to be pending UFAs; we don't need to stretch and get Anybody Who Might Get Something. Think guys like Harrington and/or Domi and/or Korpisalo. There is no reason at this time to believe Gavrikov would be made available at the deadline.

For a good offer absolutely Columbus should move him

Possibly. But this sure as hell doesn't qualify.

So what would you think is a good offer from Edmonton for Gavrikov? If I said Tullio, 2022 1st, and Josh Archibald what would you say?

I'd point you back to that whole "there is no reason at this time to believe Gavrikov would be available at the deadline" bit I said earlier. And if you try to throw in another garbage asset (first Turris, then Archibald), then you'd suddenly start getitng voice mailboxes instead of counteroffers.

Cap balancing is a necessary component to trades these days... You didn't even tell me how you would value Gavrikov.... A 1st in a loaded draft and a B prospect is a fair trade imo for a guy like Gavrikov

Given that you're going after a player we have no desire to trade, "it's necessary to make the trade work" is not a good rationale. In fact, it's even more reason to not want to bother on top of the strong reasons we already have.

How Gavrikov (or any other asset in the League) would be valued is dependent on the circumstances under which he'd be traded. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all value.

EDIT: Also, should probably reiterate the whole "our prospect supply issues have been addressed" point from earlier. Having Gavrikov still in our lineup is more valuable to us and to our roster building plans than getting Yet Another 1st. We've already got two, y'know, and we had three this past season. We're in pretty good shape there.
