Let me explain the problem with this post Exo, Khusnutdinov is a very good prospect, one that I don’t think Minnesota fans are interested in moving for Strome. Even taking back Rask, and the fact that the hawks are taking the much bigger risk in this deal, cannot eclipse the potential of the prospect.

How about you swap Khudnutdinov to Khovanov, for example? Would you do the trade?

The difference is good vs THAT good. Everyone is making it sound like I'm asking for Rossi. I didn't think they were equals. The fact that he's scoring for SKA St. Petersberg doesn't actually mean a ton to me. That team is full of NHL caliber players and they play against a bunch of AHL caliber teams.

I guess I'm hearing I need to do more research on the Russian prospects. I didn't realize Khudnutdinov was equal to Rossi in the prospect rankings. Playing for SKA is going to inflate his stats. I'll need to do more research on Khovanov.

Not quite equal to Rossi but extremely talented, nonetheless. And yes, while playing for SKA pads his stats up a bit, it's also good to remember that the dude cracked SKA's lineup as a 19-year-old. He has legit top6 C upside.

Khovanov, on the other hand, struggled with his play and coaches in the KHL last year, but don't forget he was 2nd in scoring in the QMJHL in 19-20. He also posesses top6 upside, but maybe not as a center and it's less likely he reached that potential.

Okay well you can look at it a different way. He earned a top 6 spot on that stacked SKA team as a 19 year old, and he's producing one of the top 10 U20 seasons in the KHL right now.

He's not as good as Rossi, he's not gonna be the next Kaprizov, but I would bet on him being a top 6 player in the NHL. Incredibly smart, good hands, great vision, great skating. There's just no incentive to swap him for Strome as we're not meant to be contending now and we need to keep cheap guys.

SKA is a lot like UMichigan right now. If UM doesn't win the championship...it's a failed season. No knock on him as a player or prospect. I think he's good. Its why I'm trading for him. I'm also cognizant that UM has (8) 1st rounders much like SKA.

Well Dylan strome isn't good, and you know that. The same player who was benched in favor of pius suter multiple times. Yet, you think Dylan strome who will be Chicago's at best 13th forward, Minnesota should trade their top prospect for much less to division rival?

Yeah and the point was that Khusnutdinov is part of the reason why SKA is so good, he's not just a passenger. So even if it's a stacked team, he still earned the spot in he's in on the stacked team. He'd be kinda like the Brendan Brisson of Michigan. He's not THE guy, but he's certainly putting in his fair share of the work.

I don't agree with a lot of this. You're welcome to go through my history if you want to know my opinion of Strome. Summary...it's Stan's fault. What you saw two days ago was Strome being very effective on the PP against a MIN roster that was quite close to full NHL player roster...and the Hawks team wasn't. I agree Stan is messing this kid up. I've already said that. Strome vision and passing is elite. He would be MINs #2C. He's NOT a 2-way center. He's there to help MIN embarrassing PP.

Agreed! On both parts. Hes good! There's just another part to that which IMO people lose sight now.. ... IF (and I'm admitting this is hypothetical...I don't know the answer) Khusnutdinov doesn't face a shutdown line... that'll inflate his position. Again, IDK the answer. Not trying to tear down your prospect. That was the part of my mindset when I made the initial trade. Everyone says I'm wrong. Ok I can respect other opinions.

There is so much wrong with this post, that I don't even know where to start. Look, as a Wild fan I will say this trade as proposed doesn't work and isn't a good idea for Minnesota to do it.

But saying that Strome isn't anything better than a 13th forward is taking it too far. I may not like Strome or particularly want him, especially at this price, but the guy is a middle six player. Don't insult either the player or it's fanbase by blatantly saying something that is obviously false. Because at that point, you're just trolling.

Strome was easily the best player on the ice for Chicago during Thursdays preseason game not named Lankinen. That's a fact. So you either need to start learning about other organizations players better or stop critiquing the trades posted here.

I'm not going to say anything about Strome when my prior post says everything I feel about him already.

But I will dispute the notion that we need PP help.

The Wild only sucked on the PP for the first half of the season. After the TDL last year, the Wild's PP took off like scorched earth during an California Wildfire season. They finished with the 15th best PP in the league by seasons end, when they were dead last during the first half. By percentage, our PP was ranked in the top 10 league wide after the TDL. It's continued to look fantastic during the preseason so far too.

It's not a issue.

I can't speak to how the other teams in the KHL deploy their lines, and I haven't watched every SKA game this season, but I have watched quite a few, and Khusnutdinov has been on the first line several times. So he's probably switching off between matching up against teams top shut down lines and their second lines.

It was off the top of my head, I just knew it was closer to the middle of the pack than dead last. Given how it started, how it ended is a miracle. I mean it was literally historically bad there for awhile. But still, I iterate, from dead last to a top ten by percentage for the last half. 🤷‍♂️
