ARI is clearly retooling. I just don't see the point in rushing it, and moving their top forward and top D prospect is clearly doing that.

At least one of those 2nds needs to be conditional as a first. If Eichel does return to form the Sabres need to be compensated, but his injury status makes conditional picks more reasonable. Keller is a good get and cap implications are not an issue for Buffalo

Sabres have driven the situation to the point where the return, whenever it happens, will be terrible for you regardless. The question is how terrible.

That being said, I mostly agree with what you're saying, but it still doesn't change the fact that it's rushing the rebuild. Value is probably in favor of ARI, but situation is not. Eichel has two years left when ARI can be considered a legit team next time.
