those forward lines are flat-out terrifying. Defense quickly takes them back down to earth.

I'm not so sure, the only question mark I had was Namestnikov. Unfortunately Russia is very strong. Prediction Silver medal.

Finland: Gold
Russia: Silver
Canada: Bronze

Shipachyov is a great KHL player that comes nowhere near some of the great *players*.
Canada's center depth makes Russia's winger depth look average.
Sweden may not have a super high end guy, but with Pettersson, Lindholm, Zibanejad and Backstrom, they have better depth than anyone not named Canada.
Finland has Barkov and Aho.
I will say, without Eichel, the United States center depth is also looking weak.

Shipachyov could hold his own on that stage, albeit he'll be on the lower end of centers there (at least for the big teams), but Grigorenko and Namestnikov are going to be struggling to keep up. Is Kuznetsov still banned from international play?

Canada Bronze tears of joy

This is a better team than I think people will give it credit. But this is still a 3rd or 4th place team.

Canada and US are going to battle it out. Those are the two most talented teams. As long as the US doesn't build their team stupidly they will compete for a gold.
Sadly though, the US is already making mistakes with naming Jones as a top 3 player on the team. He's not US best Defenseman, not even on the RD side.
They also need Jack to play. That is yet to be seen. But if healthy. they are solid.

Too many chefs in the kitchen. Canada is favorite for gold yes I know, but a Sweden or Finland upset can be imminent since Finland has a good defense and a solid core of players, as does Sweden. Also these teams have a grinding line who is physical and able to change the rhythm of the game. So yes this is very optimistic for Finland, but I can see an upset happening.

I'm thinking there are going to be more KHL players (who I don't know even exist) on Team Russia.

I hate to break it to you but Canada probably has one of the best "physical grinding" lines. Hell they are taking guys like Stone. And US is probably taking guys like Anders.
That really isn't an issue.

This isn't WJC. These guys know what they are doing. A lot of them have done it before. Either winning a cup or a gold.
They are the favorite for a reason. The talent is deep, and they know how to play their role.
You can't look at Sweden or the Fins and say they match up well. They don't. Canada has only had one really competitor as of lately and that's US. Because only the US has had the depth to go toe to toe. Now that could change with Russia joining in, but because guys like Kuzy are out and not really the same player they were, their are weak down the middle.
If the US has issues with Jack being out, Canada might coast.

The fins have almost no defence and the goaltending has no experience at the olympics for them and Sweden

Well aren't you just too sweet? Finland has upset a Russian Olympic roster minus Panarin and Tarasenko without a single NHL goal on their roster. They also beast out an all star Swedish team and a good Canada. Get what I am saying? All stars don't win games a team does and Canada will end up losing in the semis (yes ik that odds are against me) but hey I make predictions that are unlikely so that when they end up happening I look like a genius.

Read my other comment, bud. You Canadians/Americans (always get mixed up with you guys) crack me up here is a hint anything can happen on the ice and if Canada or America end up winning hey well done betting odds got it right but if one of my picks win (Finland or Sweden) well we will see who is making excuses when sitting on their couch. I can hear your ****ing already.

Look this isn't WJC. where the prima donna kids can't figure out how to beat a team with less talent who plays together.

You got to have equal talent on the ice to keep up here. Canada is so deep it's insane and they are the kind of guys who know what it takes to win.
It's really easy to say what you just said right there...oh yeah they are the favorites but if I'm right you'll be crying haha....
but you're not betting your house on that crap and everyone knows it.

There are the big 3. Canada, Russia, US.
It's been that way for some time.
Russia has had issues lately and still does because of guys like Kuzy not playing. But they are still a deep team.
US too this year may have issues with a guy like Jack not playing, that's a huge blow. But again, they are a deep team.
Canada doesn't have such issues. They are deep, the most talented, and they are loaded with guys who will do what it takes to win.
But sure, FIN and SWD are going to have to depth to role with them.....if you say so.

Not a betting man but hey you are just too sweet worrying about my house. But hey we will see and god forbid one of the Canadians get injured a good check could do that. It will sound like 2019 already with your **** excuses in the WC ("Oh, but they had 6 goalies on the ice" "Oh they weren't playing real hockey they were playing ***** hockey") well here is a number (420-69) so that you can call yourself a waaaaahmbulace when Canada or USA lose.

Genny over here thinking the camorra is going to run player on the ice or something just for the olympics.
Also I never made excuses for the WC. Matter of fact I had called that prior to it happening.
But this isn't WC and you don't seem to understand that. There is a fundamental talent difference between these teams and everyone realizes that but you.
You talk a big game, but when they win you'll be full of piss and vinegar with you, oh I knew they would lose anyway blah blah blah.

It comes down to the principal you support. Perhaps Canada would win 9/10 times but can they win that 1 time it actually counts I don't know.

what it boils down to is the realization that teams like this.

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2830891
https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2830957

just aren't going to keep up.
They don't have the depth, they don't have the better high end talent.
They other team isn't going to go out there and cut them a break.

We all know that there are 3 teams that are really deep.
All 3 of them aren't laying an egg.
