Caufield/Suzuki, Evans, Hillis, and a conditional 22 1st such as 2022 1st round pick becomes a 2023 1st round pick if Eichel does not play for Dallas in the 21-22 playoffs, the 2023 1st becomes a 2023 2nd if Eichel is on LTIR for 21 or more games during the 22-23 season.

What is that deal, I would be iffy if I traded Suzuki/Caufield one for one, due to Eichel's situation right now. At his best, I would agree but now, especially when Eichel is out for the foreseeable future and we don't know if he will be back, that is a hard reject. Face it, you aren't getting a team's best player, and high draft picks for Eichel.

    What?

Were you thrown off by the fact he said Dallas? I think they might say Dvorak instead of Suzuki, but Caufield is non-negotiable. At which point it’s Dvorak, Caufield, and at least one first round pick, because Montreal is a divisional opponent and therefore must pay a higher price.

I’m confused, do you really value Dvorak more than Suzuki?

I don't think the Sabres will be able to make that trade, they need to get over the cap floor.

Here’s the thing though, BUF isn’t selling Eichel short they can’t. A team acquiring him has to be confident he is going to return as the elite player he is or why bother acquiring him? Hence the big packages. I don’t think BUF trades him within the division but it will be a big package it takes to land him.

Considering we don’t know when this trade would take place, the Sabres would be retaining on almost every one-year contract they send out at the trade deadline, and probably agree to play the middleman to retain salary in other teams’ trades like the Sharks did this past year. They might not need to bring in more than $6 million to cover meeting the Cap floor.

I would say something like Drouin (cap), Guhle, Evans/Romanov, and picks is more accurate. Probably include Byron as well or cap reasons

Im not saying that to annoy you at all, Im basing it off of the Flames package i made a while back that both fanbases seemed relatively happy with.

You say they have "no value" to Buffalo but thats not true, LD just arent a high priority for the Sabres. You aren't going to get young core top main roster players in a return because thats counterproductive for the team acquiring. It will be some sort of cap hit going back with a bunch of futures stapled on

The Sabres dont need dmen, they specifically do not need to trade Eichel for dmen, therefore dmen have 0 value. Just because i say dmen have 0 value, doesnt mean im asking for McDavid. Im literally just saying take the Sabres team needs into account. Why would they put the onus on themselves to trade what they get for Eichel for the pieces they actually need that makes no sense
