I think I agree with some of the comments on mine that adding the 2nd round pick is too much. But otherwise, I think Strome is probably going to get passed over in Chicago and most likely won't get what he is looking for in his next contract due to Chicago's depth right now. So, I figured dumping Connolly's cap hit and giving both him and Strome somewhere they will actually get to play on an NHL roster while getting Chicago under the cap would be incentive for both sides. Plus if white can come back strong from the injury, then the Trade would be even better for the hawks. But that end of it is all speculation at this point. Who knows, the Hawks might have a plan for Strome and everyone speculating that he will be traded could be completely wrong.

Honestly, I don't really like it either. I wish the hawks would give strome a better opportunity to succeed. But they seem pretty set on Johnson playing Center and Dach becoming the No. 1 C at some point. And if that is the case and Toews still wants to play beyond 22-23, Strome will be traded or lost for nothing.

I’m not sure Ottawa does this. If the 2nd is for picking Connolly’s cap hit up, I’m not sure if Ottawa would want to switch White for Strome given the uncertainty of Strome’s contract.

That said I’m not following how this helps the hawks, especially now that White is confirmed to be out for 4-6months.

I don't think either team would do this. Personally, I would hope the Sens would stay far away from Strome. But they have a knack for going after my strict DO NOT ACQUIRE list lol

I think Colin White is an uncertainty.

If you're Ottawa, you pull the trigger on something like this.

100%

Also, I don't understand this from Chicago's point of view.

Ottawa does this.

100%.

Personally, I hope Ottawa gets as far away from Colin White as possible.

We have also been rumoured to acquire Dylan Strome during the offseason.

Furthermore, one player will need shoulder surgery and will need months of recovery.

The other will be fired up and ready to go for opening night.

And we get a 2nd round pick, which is nice.

What is Colin White worth to you anyway?

The point about White is more than fair but it could also be argued that Strome is a bit of an uncertainty as well. He had a really solid 58 games with Chicago after being traded 20 games into the season but in each of the past two seasons his play has trailer off more than the last. Coming off a deal at 3m and with that one solid year under his belt he'll likely cost more than what White does at the moment.

The pick is nice, the cap dump isn't ideal but I agree Ottawa would definitely consider it.

Nothing. It's avoiding Strome thats most important
