I see that on an otherwise slow news day, Darren Dreger has tried to generate a little buzz by once again reporting that the Rangers and the Sabres "are in talks over Eichel."

Why not both? A 1st is nearly guaranteed in an Eichel package if you ask me.

Why not both? Well, if a first "is nearly guaranteed," and you're not satisfied with the two prior firsts who are now developing into top-6 forwards (Chytil and Kravtsov), then you won't be getting last year's first, too.

Remove Schneider and its a deal.

I'm.. not sure if "not satisfied with Chytil and Kravtsov" is the best way to put it. I don't think it's any secret that the massive package for Eichel will comprise of both players and draft capital, and it should amount to the equivalent of 4-5 first round picks. I don't know if the Rangers would do this, but this offer satisfies all of the criteria to me.

I think that by now, it's unrealistic to believe that Eichel is going to realize the equivalent of 4 first-round picks.

Maybe not five, but I'm not going to ever believe he gets a return lower than four until I see it. Jack Eichel's ceiling is still a Hall of Fame career.
