  1. Hertl, Tomas (1 000 000 $ retained)
SJS
  1. DeBrusk, Jake
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2022 (BOS)
  3. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
2022 second becomes 2022 first if Hertl plays more than 40 games

(Might be an overpay. Included Debrusk because Boston needed to shread cap and sj might want a young potental bounce back player. Debruck could be replaced with smith but I dont think a team thats heading towards a rebuld would take smith over debrusk.)

I actually don't think this value is too bad. Obviously Boston firsts aren't lottery picks but getting 2 firsts in each of the next two deep drafts for a rental isn't a bad thing. I just don't think the pieces are right for SJ, they'd be more interested in prospects or younger players.

Two firsts and debrusk is likely close to double what the sharks will get.

If he plays 40 games its two firsts. No way San Jose gets two firsts.

Oh yeah I was wrong, you should be able to get a top 15 C for just two 3rds. Silly me thinking a player has value even in a contract year.

Ryan O’Reilly, who is better than Hertl, got a 1st a 2nd and 3 stiffs with 5 years left on his contract.

You boys need to get your head of the clouds.

2 1sts and Debrusk exceeds fair market value on Hertl. If you say it’s not what you are looking for that’s one thing. If you say it’s not even close or scoff at the value…you are delusional. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Someone here I think had mentioned the comp before, but I look at a guy like Duchene. Similar age to Hertl when he was moved, also a rental (but at the TDL). Duchene played at a mid 60's point rate like Hertl has over the last few years. Cap hits are close, but edge to Hertl since today's cap space is larger and the cap hit isn't as much of a CH%. So what did Duchene at the TDL net?

1st Rounder - Came from CBJ who was looking to make a push, so assumed to be a mid/late 1st
Conditional 1st - if Duchene re-signed in Columbus
Abramov - former 3rd round that lit up the QMJHL
Davidsson - former 6th round that was a longshot to make the NHL

Like ROR, the return wasn't anything special. There was a lot of hype around Abramov because of his QMJHL numbers and IIRC Davidsson was having a strong year in the SHL as well. In the end neither guy made any significant impact on the NHL and both are now playing overseas. I honestly don't know what I'd offer for Hertl that both teams would like. I've seen a few (I assume) Sharks fans with Beecher in some deals as well as a 1st. I think if IIRC SJ is looking for either a C/LD that will be ready in the next year or two. Not sure if someone like Vaak or Zboril would be of interest. I imagine that Lysell & Lohrei are non-starters for Sweeney in any deal. Studnicka they'd move if it was the right deal (although he's been really good this camp and one of the best best forwards each night). Assuming you could re-sign Hertl, then maybe Studs is the guy you have to move.

Yes, Lassi Thomson. Who it turned into is irrelevant because at the time of the trade it was an unknown who that player would be

yeah that was unrelated to the outcome of the trade, just was interested in if Ottawa squandered their pick.

That was going to be my next comparison. Lol. That’s the equivalent of a 1st/Senyshyn/Cameron Hughes. Think these guys will take that instead of the OP? LMAO

Realistically a return for hertl would be a 1st (ide prefer to move 23's 1st because 22 is loaded... ) steen, and someone like zboril or vaak. young d that hasnt quite made it. Bruins arent trading debrusk right now, they would only move him if he continued to struggle. Bruins might throw in a lauko although i think that would be a mistake on the bruins part. Even this package of a 1st, vaak/zboril, steen STILL might be an overpay in terms of realistic trade value for a rental player.

Only thing i will say is value depends on need. If coyle/studnicka cant get it going and its very very clear the bruins lack a 2c and thats the only piece they need, they will pay to bring one in. Who that is and what they value for that role I cant say either. But as of right now, i think bruins are content with what they have.

Good thing fans don’t have a say. The rumored asking price is a 1st and either a center prospect or D prospect. That proposal likely get’s it done and is reasonable. The problem is clearing the cap space to do it.

And you’re delusional if you think hertl gets two first round picks +.

Can you name another instance of a rental second line center getting multiple first round picks? Hell, even a first line center getting multiple first rounders as a rental is preposterously rare. This isn’t Sidney Crosby, this is Tomas hertl. You’re in for a huge disappointment come deadline time.
