He's likely going to play opposite Fiala. Fiala's not one of the top guys? Fiala is our best winger not named Kaprizov, not sure how Boldy wouldn't at least be in consideration as a Calder candidate if he plays on that line.
Boldy might make the team out of camp and be on a line with Fiala, sure. He hasn't really done much so far though the pre-season games
He also has things working against him with MN:
-He won't be on PP1, and maybe not on the PP at all.
-Lack of a quality center on his line.
-3rd line ToI.
Zegras and Caufield (my Calder favorites) saw 20+ NHL games last year. They've had their welcome to the NHL moments, built their confidence, and went into the offseason knowing what they needed to improve on. All that puts them a step or two ahead of Boldy going into the season.
The Calder is not about which of these players will have the best career, it's which one has the best season this year. Boldy is just starting out the season behind others in his development, and he probably won't get the PP time others get to help pad his points stats.
