                      TOR
Over the next two years, we'll be pushing to make the playoffs.

And maybe get lucky in the first round like Montreal last season

Against a team that is built for the regular season instead of the playoffs.

Either way, Connor Brown is going to be a part of it.

And we're going to reward him for it once it's all set in done

Like we did in October, 22nd 2020

It's going to be a beautiful thing.

Winning back to back cups happened after the trade was made.

                        You should know that.

I like the COL, CGY, NJD deals best for Ottawa.
I wouldn't do the PIT deal. Not sure about TOR.

Agree generally on his value though

Ya i get it guy, you don’t have to tell me three times.

Coleman is clearly (i guess was clearly), the better player.

I do love a good "time spent doing a thing" stat without context of how well he did during those minutes
Brown has been worse than his team mates at defending shots and chances short handed every season since 2017-18
Coleman has been better, usually significantly better than his, when he was traded he was at a 6.4% corsi rel which is over 4x better than Brown has been in forever and 7.6 Fenwick rel which is about the same

                        also lol +/-

Although I do understand this notion, I do not think that Ottawa will get a good deal for Brown unless the right conditions are made (i.e. cap retention, and sent to a top 4/5 team). However, futures aside, it's time for Ottawa to preserve the talent on offer. Too many people are quick to jump the gun and try to trade away certain players. Ottawa needs to make the jump soon, otherwise they run risk of being in a limbo of struggle similar to Detroit or NJ. Brown should only get traded if he is part of a package to acquire a bonafide star.

You're absolutely right! He has the same value as Coleman did at the time if you retain 50%. But keep in mind that most teams wouldn't have paid what Tampa did. Tampa was 100% all in and Jon Cooper told BriseBois exactly who he wanted, and they were willing to pay whatever it took to ensure the got him. I think unless a situation like that happens again, Brown might get you slightly less value, maybe a 1st and a lower end prospect

Why are you comparing Brown to what Coleman did for Tampa? The real comparison is Brown vs what Coleman did in NJ

Part of my comparison includes what Coleman did in NJ.

                        When I say, "Since 2018".

How about Kaut and a 1st instead if Barron? Coleman got a LW prospect back so it would sense to get a RW prospect back for Brown

Sakic isn't going to move Barron, he's everything the organisation wants in a Dman.

If a 1st + B prospect is being mooted I'd rather just aim higher than Brown. Like Forsberg, Hertl, etc.

A couple of Anaheim fans were happy to do Kaut + Compher for Rakell and that's much better value than dropping a 1st + Kaut on Brown.
