Doughty has that leadership quality the leafs are severley lacking. Wouldn't be shocked if he could add some veteran presence as well.

Lol at the leafs giving up the significantly better player for a washed up defender on a top 3 worst contract in the league and adsing a 2nd.
Do we really have to do this horrible trade for the leafs every month?

If I’m the kings I’d be fine with this trade I’d take the lower cap hit and the better player but that does leave a hole at the RHD area so this makes be a bit sceptical

The amount of people here actually considering this trade is baffling. Marner gets your more than that lone, and you also gave a pick? This is definitely up there for Worst Trade Possible

The silly part is the believe that Dermot, Mikheyev and Engvall totalling 4.4m are cap dumps with no replacements in sight.
I never liked Marner's contract but his 11m X 4 is far better value than Doughty's 11m X 6 now and certainly in the future.

A top pairing of Rielly-Doughty would be a major double-edged sword. Crazy deadly in the offensive zone, complete pylons in the defensive zone.
That said, Toronto would probably be better off keeping Marner.
