With Kane out of the lineup for the foreseeable future (if not permanently)
I feel this team should reward the younger players having a strong camp and look for the future.
Simek should be traded at some point and same with Gambrel and Cogliano, they just don’t fit our future or even our now.
Nieto is the perfect 13th forward who can plug and play just about anywhere.
Eklund and Dahlin are the best 2 younger forwards and should be rewarded for their effort and ability. Leonard has offensive upside and a defensively sound game, perfect 3LW in my eyes.
Move Meier to 1 RW for the season and put Labanc at 2 RW which should be a better fit.
Balcers compliments Leonard and Bonio well and sets up a solid defensive 3rd line with offensive upside.
Weatherby has stolen the 4c from Gambrel and should start, Barabanov has been absent from most of the camp and games, but he should get a chance to prove last year was not a fluke, chmevelski is a RH shot we need and has played better than Blichfeld, Merkley, and Pederson and deserves a shot.
On D its fairly consistent only addition is Merkley at RD, he’s played well in camp and in preseason games and it would be good to have him play with Vlasic and gain some solid experience this year.

Roster will have lots of up and downs and should end up drafting pretty high in 22 but if Hertl comes back, we get another top prospect to add and a solid FA or 2 we should be in good shape next year.
