No thanks. We don’t need a backup goalie, and our PP is good enough. Olofsson is very good on the PP, but ours will be one of the best in the league again. We have Hyman, Nuge, and Foegele on our left side anyway.

If you took out the retention (which would cost significantly more anyways), its still light because of the top 10 protection on the first. So no. I personally wouldnt trade olofsson for that, but i like him more than some sabres fans. Butcher isnt worth anything near that, but sure, i would take that. Miller retained will go for a third most likely, maybe a second if theres a market, but hold the left d, dont need em cant use em. The others are fine.

Probably not going to be 4 years, the Sabres have a good stock pile of young assets, the just need some centers and for some bad contracts to expire

Buffalo already has a strong young player/prospect core then whoever they get in the next draft or 2 + the return for Eichel and the development of their young goalies should make them good fairly soon. Right now I see them as what Toronto was right before they traded Kessel

You´re overvaluing Butcher, Hägg, Eakin, Hayden, Caggiula. And that Eichel trade is horrible for Buffalo. Colin White is an overpaid 3C. Järventie do not have top-6 potential. Two 2nd rounders don´t do much in this deal and that 1st rounder should absolutely not be top-10 protected my God. Formenton is probably a good 3rd line winger when it´s said and done.

A more realistic trade should be a 1st, no protection, Shane Pinto, Lassi Thomson/Jacob Bernard-Docker and a player like Järventie or Formenton etc.

He's one of the worst goal scorers in the league at 5v5 and he's the exact opposite player-type that McDavid requires. He's a perimeter guy who can't win board battles or go to the hard areas to score goals. I wouldn't take him for free.
