This team has another 3 wingers that could content for those bottom line spots. Hofmann danforth foudy all look nhl caliber. Not even to mention stenlund or dunne. I’ve really liked Hofmann to this point and I hope he starts with the big club. However he is a 28 year old and I understand we can’t wait forever to give foudy, bemstrom chinakhov a full time spot. (Even if they don’t make it)
Brad is going to have some really hard choices to make. Heck even our “number one center” might not make the team out of camp.
Obviously not my call, but I’d prefer Sillinger and Chinakhov go to the AHL. In general, my MO is that if they are waivers exempt and you are not in immediate need for them, a higher role in the AHL is better than a lower role in the NHL, particularly if the player is not designed to play that lower NHL role (think Dunne, Berni, etc. Guys who are best suited for Bottom 6/ Bottom 4 roles). Particularly with the CBJ’s position - rebuilds aren’t about losing, they’re about moving resources from winning to development. Which, yeah, typically leads to losing.
I think Danforth starts in the AHL as well. His last stint there did not go well, so they’ll see if he is better this go-around.
Re: Hofmann…play him. If he sucks, one year deal, move on.
If he shows promise, TDL chip.
If he looks like an All-Star, extend him.
