Going after a big fish like this seems opposite of the islanders approach. Depth over big contracts has served them well to this point. I think Reilly is viewed way more negatively than he should be because he's part of the Toronto core that can't make the next step. With the current D contract market he probably gets $7.5 on the low end but somebody needing a dman will probably throw an 8 out there.

From the Oilers perspective, if they don't find what they're looking for on the free agent market something like this definitely makes sense for 1 year.
