Leafs need cap and getting rid of Mikheyev is might be the only way. IMO Mikheyev is good value at 1.65m. Leafs or Marlies really don't Juolevi, so if the Canucks still want to salvage his NHL career, that's fine with me.

yeah, it's almost like leafs fans round here have a rep for bad valuations of their players and thats 90% of leaf AGMs are made by like 3 people.

Juolevi is 23. He’s exiting prospect territory.

Dubas is on record (I think) saying he won’t trade Mikheyev even tho he asked for a trade.

I’m pretty sure Dubas said it in a press conference but it might have just been a Friedman report.

1. Juolevi showed up to training camp in very bad shape and trailed every single one of his teammates during a bag skate recently.



2. There are video and images circulating on the internet of him collapsing and rolling around on the ice during the bag skate because he decided to be a quitter.

He showed really poor sportsmanship and the social maturity of a whining six year old that just had a tantrum during the entire ordeal.

Something unbecoming of a professional athlete who was once drafted 5th overall.



3. Head Coach Travis Green was quoted as saying about Juolevi that "he didn't do himself any favours".

Intentionally.

2. Mikheyev is not getting you past the first round.


3. Mikheyev is a 4th line forward who won't be signing an extension and will probably go home to Russia after the upcoming season is over.


4. Juolevi was once drafted 5th overall and still has some upside as a puck-moving offensive defenseman, even though he's no longer a blue-chip prospect.


5. Juolevi is signed at league minimum, is under team control and needs a fresh start as well as a change of scenery with a new team.

1. If a player asks for a trade, you do what you can to get a good return for him.

Dubas might have said that because other teams weren't offering anything that's good.

Personally, I think this is a good return on Mikheyev for the Leafs.



2. Hanging on to someone who doesn't want to play for the team anymore for a lengthy period of time is potentially harmful to the team's morale.

2-3rd liners dont get teams past the 1st round
3-he's a 3rd liner and he wants to play in the NHL and will easily get another NHL contract next year
4-Juolevi was once drafted 5th over all and so far hasnt even looked like a good 5th round pick
5-bad players make league minimum, that doesnt mean anyone wants them

Mikheyev wanted out because he wasn’t getting the TOI he thought he should be and Dubas said he’d get more this season. I think it goes into the season before he’s traded if he’s traded.

But yes I agree this is a good return for him.

Juolevi will likely be on waivers and can get picked up by a team for free. I don't think the Canucks are in a position to take Mikheyev though, even if he were free. I think the value is fair but probably not worth the time for either team.
