I don't dislike the lines but Bednar did say he liked how Nuke was looking on the 2nd line in camp. I do agree that Newhook needs to play at C as much as possible and that both Kadri and Mikko would give him protection from having to be the play-driver. That being said, I'd really love to see the third line bring more production this year - having a dangerous 3rd line gives you more options. I'd also like to see Bowers beat out Helm but that is probably unlikely.

I like the lines Bednar has been running in camp. Nichushkin should bring a bigger defensive presence to the 2nd line and Newhook should bring a bigger offensive presence to the 3rd line. I think that makes for a very balanced middle 6

Nichushkin with Burakovsky makes a lot of sense to me actually. Nichushkin creates a lot of space, drives possession, and generates lots of chances for his linemates (and himself) but has never had a good finisher on his line. Burakovsky is one of the best shooters in the league and should be able to capitalize on a lot of Nichushkins takeaways

Whatever puts him with top six talent is optimal. But Bednar has this tenure thing, where if you've been there before, you get a shot before a younger guy even if you have less talent. I think it's a strategy where, if the veteran fails, you can bump them down and justify it man to man. A respect and trust thing.
