Description
- Hearing that Sutter has fatigue - not good, could be a year long issue.
- Hearing that Hamonic might not be vaccinated - needs to be put LTIR then
- Hearing that Motte might be a month or two

So where does that leave us?

Don't worry about Hughes and Petey signings, just a pure guess here.

Now the question here is - With the $3.5M-ish of cap space you will have on a 23 man roster, do you try to ($2.8M + dropping a player), do you try to make a move in preseason or early in the year to beef up your D-core?

Let Rathbone, Joulevi, Schenn, and Hunt share time for the bottom two spots. At trade deadline get someone like Stecher, Manson, or Miller. Also that's too much for Chiasson. Highmore is a great player, and Lockwood can play too. Also don't write off Dowling

Hamonic not being vaccinated just means that he can't go across the border...Josh Archibald in Edmonton is the same. Will miss 30-32 games in the states (can't remember the exact amount). Can't imagine the union or league would allow them to just make the contract vanish. Could be wrong though!

Getting vaccinated could be a clause in the contract, which if violated could allow VAN to terminate the contract completely

Manson would be my main target if this was to happen. All just rumors for now though.

Also hearing that Motte is skating at training camp so shouldn't be too far off joining the team.

I think the team would have an issue if Hamonic couldn't play that many games. Plus, every time he came back to Canada, he would have to quarantine for 14 days. It would be a huge disruption to the team, and if the Canucks could get 100% cap relief by sitting him, I think they would.....at least I would if I were them.

Chaisson is at least $1M, would be shocked if he were less. I love Lockwood, and would like to see him get a spot, but in order to be effective, he needs to play in the top 9, who is he bumping? Agreed on Dowling, I only chose MacEwen over him for historical purposes. I think whichever works the hardest in camp would get the spot.

If you exclude Sutter and Motte, you can still have a 3rd line of Di Giusseppe-MacEwan/Dowling-Highmore, with the other of MacEwan/Dowling as a 13th forward and players like Lockwood, Gadjovich, and Petan (all doing well in training camp) in the AHL. Once Motte is back he can easily bump Di Giuseppe, but Sutter might find himself a healthy scratch

I think Jim Benning said all players will be vaccinated for opening night

For sure...My understanding is that the non-vaxxed will not be crossing the border.
