The Sabres have one of the strongest fan bases in the league, and until government intervention, were still above 95% capacity despite 10 years of absolute mediocrity at best. Trading their future for a couple of years of over the hill players that wont make them a contender anyway, especially in a year where the Canadian border is closed and theres vaccine passports needed to get into the games so attendance is going to be low no matter what team is on the ice, makes very little sense
