Eichel why not

Description
Buffalo wants picks and prospects but teams can't afford his contract without moving money out. So Montreal comes up with a genius solution. Montreal sends Chiarot + Anderson + Byron + 2023 1st + 2024 1st + Tuch + Farrell for Miller + Eichel + 2023 3rd. Then Sabres can then keep anyone or flip Anderson for 2nd, Chiarot for a 2nd and 3rd and/or retain 1 mil on Byron and flip him for a 4th. Buffalo comes out with 2 1sts, 4 2nds (including Tuch and Farrell), 3rd and 4th after all is said and done.

It's not the "ideal" situation but since Buffalo allowed Eichel to fail his physical and stripped him of the captaincy the only other solution may be mutual termination and that would suck for Buffalo.

BTW I know it's not a very good trade for the Sabres but the way things are headed they may not get much better.

Not it chief. His value is down, not trading two top 6 prospects, two firsts, and three roster players

I agree, I wouldn't either. What I would have done back in July if I was Adams is let Eichel have his surgery and get back on the ice within 6-8 weeks to show he is back to almost full health. Then traded him before the season for the 4 1sts they were looking for but since they overplayed their hand they may not get very much at all.

I was looking at it as

Miller for Chiarot

Eichel for Anderson + 1st + Farrell + Tuch

1st for taking Byron

Fair points, Adam's has certainly overplayed his hand. But tbh...
I'd keep Byron than give up a first to dump him, Chiarot is a better defenceman than Miller, and at this point I don't think I'd give up Anderson, Farrell, tuch and a first for eichel. I'd rather wait and see suzuki.dvorak/poehling

I really don’t understand why any team is going to give such a high amount to get Eichel who is going to have major surgery. I know he’s talented but the risk and your give back is way to much. Even buffalo asking price is insane.Most teams with the 81.5 million don’t have room to add a 10 million contract. Buffalo will keep him and when he’s able to play after time off for surgery and conditioning then they will trade him.

We would have to move Cap out to acquire Eichel just like every other team in the league. I know Chiarot is better than Miller but we need a better RD than Wideman so it is sort of a trade off to get the retention as well. I don't mid keeping Byron but IDK if the cap works with him staying.

Buffalo is almost to the point where they will not get anything for him so given the choice as outlined above I think Buffalo would accept.

I think this would be absolute great for MTL but dog**** for BUF
Byron = capdump
Anderson = sucks too lose but for BUF do they need a top 6 RW making 5.5M long terms ?
Chiarot = good player, only reason BUF takes him is if they flip him for a 2nd at the TDL
Tuch = B+ prospect
Farrell = B prospect AT BEST
The two 1st round pick are nice for BUF

If I’m BUF Gm I’m not doing this

The way Buffalo has handled this so far they will be lucky to get even a 1st for Eichel.

From what I understand recovery time for ADR is half the time of fusion. At least that is what was said in the interview Freidman did with the doctor back in August
