Jackets shouldn’t move for eichel and domi definitely doesn’t return that. I would love if he could but he’s not going to.

Agreed. Jackets system is deep. Kekalainen is one of the best GMs in the league (see that rebuilt blueline!, and why Boquist isn't moving). They may need a centre now, but Roslovic, Jenner an improving Texier and Kuraly (perhaps the best 4C in the NHL) is most likely what the run with right now..... and that is not mention Bemmström, who will also get a look. Jackets may not be playoff team, but they will be better than people expect.

No way the Leafs move a top prospect AND a pick for under performing Domi who will miss the first half of the year. With retained salary, I don't mind the pick up, but a 3rd with a mid level prospect is about the best he will land.

Kase and Engvall are hardly cap dumps. Engvall certainly is competent especially at 1.25m. Domi might be the cap dump even at 2.6m.

Agreed with all. I think GMJK has kept tabs on Eichel both for simple due diligence reasons, and to see if his price will come down. The desire vs reality gap with Eichel has fluctuated a lot, so it’ll be interesting to see where it lands. There is definitely a point where Eichel may become so “cheap” that it could be worth it; but, Ultimately, this is the first true rebuild CBJ have ever gone through, so I’d hope they just stick this out.

Jarmo and JD are smart enough guys that if they keep this course, we may only need to wait 1-2 seasons to compete. With Eichel, and particularly considering the assets given up to get him, I really only see CBJ as exactly what they’ve been the past few years - a borderline playoff team that could surprise some people. For a team trying to build something, the only thing worse than bottoming out is mediocrity.

100%!

Love that they brought JD back. A brilliant hockey mind..... you can see the track this team is in, and provided the prospects pan out as expected, I can see 2 years for sure.

The big thing in all this will be Werenski, Gavrikov, Bean and Boquist on the back end. All under 25. That's a quartet you can run with for 5-7 years with good cap management. Goaltending is in place. The blueline is in place.

The front end needs massaging, but even there, you can see where it's going.

I think they had one of the best offseasons in the league.... and they are rebuilding.

Nobody even knows what Eichel will be like after his surgery, he hasn't even fully rehabbed or taken any contact.
There is absolutely no chance the Jackets are parting with Boqvist, Sillinger, or that 1st.

The Jarmo/JD regime has taken the stance that they don't like to rush the prospects...BUT....Sillinger sure looks to be the real deal and may even be NHL ready this year.
With Johnson on the horizon next year, and a fairly good chance the 2022 1st is a high one, the Jackets will be in good shape in 2022-23.
