Bishop is going on LTIR, so dumping his cap means nothing when the Stars won't have to account for him once the season starts. And even if they were trying to get a team to take his cap, they aren't giving up their top defensive prospect in order to do so.

Bishop is LTIR and will probably retire considering his health and age, which means he won’t count towards the cap therefore you won’t get our best defensive prospect for scraps.

He’s going to be 35 this year and he hasn’t played in 1.5 seasons, and will likely not play this year so that’ll be 2.5 seasons. When you haven’t played for more than two seasons and you’re going on 35 while being very injury prone, it isn’t likely that you’ll play again.

There’s always a chance, but this one isn’t likely to happen.

Undetermined & anyone that tries to tell you one way or another simply doesn't know either. Bishop has said all along that his goal is to get back on the ice. From the looks of it he doesn't want to retire. Whether or not he makes it back to live NHL action is still up in the air, but as of today the last we've heard is that he is working like he is trying to make it back from his injury.

That being said, he will not be ready for the season start, which is why Dallas will be putting him on LTIR as soon as they are eligible to.
