Easy decline. Getting rid of Ladd and Ghost doesn't add much value for AZ, they know they're going to be bad this year and next.

honestly yes. arizona still gets a 1st and 2nd and fills a positional need. it also helps that they send bad contracts the other way. also I think bob's past reputation could lessen the price because GMs probably fall for things like that

Bobrovsky is 33 hasn't been good in years and still has one of the highest cap hits in the league... a late 1st 2nd and taking easily unloadable $ is way to little

With virtually no leverage for FLA any other team probably insists on Lundell or gtfo to take his contract or a handful of their A- prospects, not great bob

    Ugly ugly situation

we will see what happens. I dont think a buyout would rlly be possible. I think he will be off this team by the time knight needs an extension

Too funny. Sir Bob has barely just started his 7 year visit to sunny FLA, and a little legal setback called a NMC will probably keep him in his new home state until they grow the stones to buy him out!!! Good luck with that cap hit.

They do yeah but for instance NHL.com just listed Bob as the 26th best fantasy goalie, after vitek Vanecek, league opinion on him is really going down hill

I think the offer you've posted works for Price who had a better apex, is canadian and just helped mtl to a cup final etc. but for bob it's like 2x this at least

GMs are very slowly getting better as well

true but I think teams would pay decent assets for price while also sending some bad contracts to Montreal because they know how good he can be

Best hope for Bobrovsky is that he turns it around. In 3 years he might be moveable (salary less than cap hit). Until then, cross fingers for a compliance buyout materializing.

compliance buyout won't happen cuz y would it. mby arizona would take him then since they know that they won't owe him as much actual money

But would is Bob's motivation to waive his NMC to Arizona? Poor team and now in the Central, the worse travel schedule in the league.

I know it's unlikely, but that's how Philly got out of Bryzalov's contract.

Bob is $12M salary vs $10M cap hit for two years, with about half in signing bonuses. Evens out after that, but it's year 4 when it becomes appealing to reach the cap floor and the signing bonuses are much lower.

you're right. maybe if his starting job gets taken over by knights and he knows he will be able to play a lot in arizona. arizona is a nice place I think too.

Gee, from what we know of Bob, maybe he wants Knight to be the starter, so Bob can just watch more games from the bench instead of playing them.

    . . . and don't forget that Florida is a no-state-income-tax jurisdiction, and Arizona isn't.

Compliance buyout won't happen unless the league allows it, like they did in the event of the institution of the salary cap, and the strike-shortened league. If 2-3 years of a flat cap won't push the NHL and NHLPA to agree to compliance buyouts, I'm not sure you're going to see them anytime in the near future. And considering the percentage of this contract that is in the form of signing bonus, it is otherwise buyout-proof.

Re: AZ, they won't pay for Bob right now, because they are rebuilding. They are going to be bad, and they know it, so might as well trade for someone cheap and easy, or sign a G of the UFA market on a cheap one or two year deal. They have no incentive to take on that much term and money unless FLA is willing to part with enough heavy assets to make it worthwhile. A late 1st and 2nd won't do it - that package would absolutely *start* with Lundell and a 1st.

By the time Bob's contract gets any cheaper in terms of real dollars (three years from now when, mind you, the real value is still $6.5M), AZ is likely not going to want to take the $10M cap hit, as I imagine they will have their eye closer to contending, and needing to otherwise worry about their own cap situation.

It cannot be said enough - thank god we let Bob go. Out of all the players who walked, the only one I regret letting go was Panarin. And even then...the $12M they offered is a big ask.
