Description
The other option is to bring back Malkin and Letang and thank them for helping us recoup picks.
If not, I could see the Pens weaponizing this cap space. A team that comes to mind is FLA with Hornqvist.

Wild aren't in the right position to be making this deal. We should keep our young players, prospects and picks. Malkin would be wasted here.

That'd be 5 retained salaries aka too many

            MTL says yes
Rust you could probably move for a cap dump and get a better package
Malkin i feel has a bigger upside in New York with Panarin and they have the cap with the resources to pull it off
It would be cheaper then Eichel and give them a guy with 174 playoff points in 170 playoff games with 3 Stanley Cups

Im thinking Georgiev ,Othmann ,1st and a 3rd round pick for Malkin
Gives them a quality goalie to play Tandem with Jarry for 6m cap i think
Othmann player with who's at 17 went to Europe to play Swiss League and did well but is returning to the OHL for seasoning (Jordan Eberle/Brendan Gallagher type who's ultra aggressive)

Strome Malkin Zabinjev gives them 3 Center options for their top 9 who their youth can thrive around

If Malkin is a 20g/50a player then PIT is in the Playoffs. If he's not a 20g/50a player then he's not worth Greenway + 1st.

I'd be more interesting in Carter for a pair of 3rds, than the steep rental price of Malkin for MN.

If you can get Trochek at that price, you HAVE to throw money at Barkov. Florida would not be able to afford him at all and you can easily be a playoff team again and can save that 1.2 million by not signing Larsson.
11.5 million for Barkov. 1.5 for Lyubushkin and trade Dermott.
            Guentzel-Crosby-Poulin
            Greenway-Barkov-Kapanen
            Hallander-Trochek-Legare
            McGinn-Blueger-Zohorna
            Byron
            O’Connor
            Pettersson-Marino
            Matheson-Lyubushkin
            POJ-Friedman
            Harris

            Jarry
            Lindberg

If Poulin, Legare, Hallinder, POJ, Lindberg are even remotely successful then that team could re-open the window and would be absolutely stacked down the middle, having some pushback on every line.
Just realized the cap is 82.5 million here. If the cap goes up 1 million like it’s supposed to, you’ll have like 1.2 million in cap space to play with to either sign an upgrade on Friedman or to use at the deadline. And you can trade Byron at 50% retained to gain some more cap space and probably keep Larsson as an extra forward.

Incorrect. It would be 3 for the 2021-22 season, and 2 for the 2022-23 season.
Malkin could also be an option for VGK, BOS or FLA, among others.
What do you think ZAR is worth?

The only thing i think would be hard for them is an unprotected 1st being offered up
Othmann is great but he's not one of their best forward prospects more like 3rd maybe 4th but their Deep
On a team like MTL or PIT he'd be a top Forward Prospect

Georgiev they've declared to be selling as Shesterkin has arrived and 6'7 Hugo Olas is really learning to use all his giant frame
Hugo is like Cayden Primeau a late round pick who was expected to need 3-5 years to turn Pro but shot past 3-4 prospects when he joined the SHL at 18 turning Pro in Europe
My point is they're ready to let go of Georgiev

The 1st is the only thing they dont have an abundance of and they tend to dislike moving them
That said Strome,Malkin,Zabinjeb gives them not only an Elite top 9 Center core but a pretty Lethal Special teams group to
Their Dcore is young ,strong and stepping up outside Trouba they'd be considered as overachievers given their Development projection timeline

Honestly, I would not mind Chytil either. If you are saying the C core is Zib, Malkin and Strome, Chytil is kind of left out. I think he would be a good pick up. If anything, on the defensive end, I would consider Jones or Robertson, who are behind guys like Lindgren, Miller and an older guy in Nemeth who just signed.

Yeah they have a lot of pieces outside their top 3 prospects
I think they could go in win now mode while still having some depth left to fuel them for years like TBL did

Incorrect. It would be 3 for the 2021-22 season, and 2 for the 2022-23 season.
Malkin could also be an option for VGK, BOS or FLA, among others.
What do you think ZAR is worth?

I realized after I saw the first post how the retention worked. Should've paid more attention when I originally saw this one

And I'm unsure of ZAR's actual value. A cheap, defensive stud on a 1 year deal entering his late 20's could be quite valuable to a contender. My guess would at least 2nd. I mean, we just saw Nick Foligno at a similar cap hit after retention go for a 1st and 2 4ths at the deadline. So maybe I'm low on the value. But as of right now my guess would be a 2nd and a decent prospect?
