He kinda reminds me of Marc-Andre Bergeron -- smaller defenseman, PP specialist, weaker defensively. I'm not really sure how his defensive game really is as I haven't seen a bunch of him, but that's the player that comes to mind when I hear his name.
Guys. No. Brannstrom is not similar to Bergeron in any shape or form. Bergeron had one of the best shots from the point from his generation and played as much in the NHL because he was a PP specialist
Brannstrom's defensive game is not weak at all. Senators have reasons and are even stubborn in their approach. Their "hockey systems" are specific and are very dependant on LD vs RD physical implications. He had covid last year when coming back from Europe but when he finally started playing, he helped to turn the Sens defense around with Artem Zub. He's a pretty good puck mover who sees the ice really well and move the puck out of danger quickly. However, he's not as efficient on RD which is why the Sens don't want to play him on that side
If you want a comparison, look for Tobias Enstrom, who started in the NHL at 23 y/o. His peak didn't last super long, IIRC his play dropped after injuries in his late 20's
There's also Torey Krug who IMO would be his maximum upside. So somewhere between Enstrom and Krug

Ya, read any of his scouting reports. He’s projected as a good two way-200 foot Center. He plays the PK, or did in college. Not a great scorer or created. Good at both but not gonna be a 50 plus point player. That might be his career high. I guess we’ll see but from what I know, no scouting report or projection, coach, fan thinks he’s gonna be creator or goal scorer like that.
Read Josh Norris old "scouting reports" and then look at his rookie AHL season and then rookie NHL season.
For Pinto look at David Backes. Best comparison I have seen so far. The guy only chose to pursue a hockey career at 15 y/o. His upside is totally unknown at this point. What you have described in this thread is his floor... He's that kind of player with super high hockey IQ like a Mark Stone or Nick Suzuki so you can underrate him all you want but that won't stop him
