Not trading Larkin for that. If anybody wants Yamamoto he's free to accept an offer sheet and Kassian's contract isn't coming to Detroit unless a seriously intriguing asset is attached.

Broberg and Yamamoto are 2 top pieces. Larkin is worth close to 3 1sts but not more. Maybe switch the 2nd to a 1st and probably would be what it would take

You guys have too many goalies. Turris on the 4th line over having 4 goalies is probably better

The problem with Broberg, is we already have Edvinsson, Johansson, McIsaac, Buium, and Viro on that side. Some will point to Broberg’s upside I think if he can round out his decision making then yeah I get it but that’s also one of the hardest things to do. Johansson is a prospect most don’t even know but he’s outproduced Broberg at the SHL level. I also don’t think it makes sense for Edmonton to go after Larkin. Detroit needs centers more than anything so doesn’t make too much sense there either.

Value wise it might be close, but look at the Red Wings organization, they are deep at both wing and defense and its biggest weakness is center depth and top end talent. In this trade you have them giving their only true top 6 center for pieces that add to their strength while also increasing the organizations biggest weakness.

If the Red Wings even consider a Larkin trade a true POTENTIAL top 6 center prospect is a must. Its the same problem I have looking at all the Ranger fans trades for Larkin, they maybe fair value wise, but they hurt the wings more by increasing the organizational weakness. The pick might turn into that but mid to late first is a bad bet to get a top notch center.

Bishop's on LTIR, and Turris is virtually an AHL player at this point. Would rather have those three goalies honestly.

One thing people on this site don't seem to comprehend if you want a player a team doesn't want to trade why would it be fair value?

There are many factors people on here don't comprehend, this is certainly a big one though.

That is something we all do from time to time, its a persons inherent bias at play, we tend to focus on the part that impacts us and not the other side. We think good value and good trade are the same thing. A trade idea on here can be "fair value" for both teams but make no sense for one or the other or both.

Ok but most people here think a forwards value starts and stops with his point total and don't understand a player can have value that doesn't translate on to a scoresheet.

I also don't think this value gets it anyways. Not authorized kassian in there

He maybe worth that but Wings short at center so they pass. People have to realize you can throw a bunch of good prospects and picks at a team, but if they are short at a position they .at decline. Broberg is a very nice piece and the 1st is nice mid teens or low 20's but, Wings have one NHL center to carry the load and trading him sets back the rebuild, as they will not have a bonafide top 6 center.
