Serious question here, any idea which surgery Eichel was scheduled to have and a timeline for his return to on ice activities? That will determine what the potential return is and when he gets moved.

Last I saw was on Sportsnet a few days ago was that they met with his new representatives and there was no resolution on a course of action.

They re-engaged with interested teams. So maybe they agreed to a length of time before the Sabres would review/concede. If they can't get what they expect, they don't have much choice. That's entirely speculation on my part however.

I saw a report about a week or so ago that said Eichel was scheduled to have surgery but did not say what surgery was scheduled and estimated a timeline for return around December but then I saw the report you were referring to a couple of days ago as well so just wondered what Sabres fans had heard

No Idea which, seems like fusion based on recovery time line, should be on ice end of Novemberish, back in December

See that causes some relief for teams as they know what to expect in terms of the surgery, recovery and player quality after return but they also know that he will likely need additional fusions later on. I think going this route may make some teams apprehensive about the value but may also relive other teams apprehensions about his return quality. It really is a win some lose some situation for the Sabres. I still personally think the best route is to allow him to have ADR and get back on the ice as soon as possible then trade him. I know they don't want to go that route cause they don't want to be the league guinee pig but I think that will maximize his return. The Sabres already hold his rights and there is a chance he never returns or is not to his normal level after surgery but at this point his value is pretty low as a damaged asset, hence the reason teams are not willing to pony up the asking price.

Im guessing thats why they contacted the teams that had shown interest. We know that the sabres prefer the fusion to the adr, we dont know what the other teams feel, and its gotta be important to know, for instance, that anaheim is interested, and willing to offer an appropriate package IF he gets the fusion. Maybe the other interested parties have strong feelings on this. I saw the same you did, something is scheduled, december return possible. Im not gonna be shocked if it gets pushed back a few weeks, i suspect the next time he plays competitive hockey is the olympics.

"Could have" is what I see here. Perhaps they are shopping him with the two surgery options on the table as well?

Makes sense. I dont think time is running out here, if im him, im not suiting up for buffalo if i can help it, and id rather show the world that im healthy with auston matthews and patrick kane than with tage thompson and casey mittelstadt.
