Honestly, Gallagher is on a horrible contract, injury prone player and starting a 6yrs contract. Norlinder is a project as a prospect. Ylonen is a good prospect here nice piece for a trade but if u do that kind of trade we dont have any more place for him.
The 1st is a no brainer.
If I'm MTL I'm doing this
The thought that his injury history is an issues is irrelevant either he is playing or he is on ltir and his cap hit doesnt matter. His value to the habs is massive, if he dressed for 75 games he will close in on 30 goals like he always does, he is a great 200 foot player and does a great job of taking a lot of attention from opposing players when he is on the ice. His contract is on the high end for what he brings to the stat sheet, but when you factor in all he does on and off the ice its a contract the habs are more than happy to live with. So theres that,
Norlinder was a project prospect, two years ago, he is probably capable of playing in the nhl this upcoming season but i wouldnt be surprised to see him put in one more year in europe but he will be an nhl dman very soon, with lots of upside and could easily slot into the top 4 in a few years.
This all to say that are needs are not on the wings, they are down the middle this deal makes very little sense for mtl i think we lose in the short term and long term if even one of Ylonen or Norlinder pan out and i think they both will find an every day roster spot on the habs in the next few seasons.
