This move would make me very upset, so given how the last 15 or so decisions from the GM have made me upset, I can't rule it out. They would be extremely unwise to move Thomas. He's coming off a rough season but still has so much runway. And this Blues team has like 2 under-25 contributors, can't afford to lose one for lotto tickets.

This is an interesting idea, that ultimately I like better than Hertl for OTT, it keeps their core in the same age group with room to improve. The only question is if that's enough to pry Thomas out of STL.

I had Thomas involved in an Eichel deal and everyone said no so I doubt it.

We just arent willing to give thomas or kyrou up while yes to get a player like eichel at least one of those two need to be there it just doesnt make sense for us atm

To be fair, no one on the Blues should be off the table for (healthy) Jack Eichel, but the amount of cap/positional maneuvering in order to bring a 10m center definitely makes it difficult. Usually the Eichel to STL fantasies leave the Blues at/over the cap ceiling without any internal replacements, and frankly most of their contracts aren't pretty enough to trade for good value to re-configure the roster. They're just not built for that type of center addition; need the young guys to fill the gaps for cheap.

I don't think there is any interest to move him and him not signing yet is simply hard line negotiation consequences on both sides.

100% Thomas won't miss a single NHL game to start the year. it'll get done before that but there really is no reason to sign it just yet if both sides aren't where they'd like.

I’d do that. Mainly because Thomas is younger and under team control longer and can play centre. I’m really high on Thomas , I think he’s got 60pt / year top 6 centre potential

If you don't want to trade him, fair enough. But he's not signed yet, so I decided to see what a possible trade might look like. Not claiming these are the pieces that get a deal done (see description) -- instead, whether or not Thomas could be available and what that might look like -- gotta start somewhere. Brown makes sense if they move Thomas since he can fill in at center and is clearly available, and then adding some picks. The picks could be adjusted- maybe a 1st is needed to get STL interested -- but then OTT may need to put some conditions on it, etc.

I wouldn't personally want to trade Thomas if he were on my team, likely your position based on your comment -- I think he'll be a great player. But the point remains -- he's not signed, STL has minimal cap space, the season starts soon, and this is all in good fun.

Brown makes no sense, he's slow as molasses and two years older than Thomas. I'd say this is the equivalent of me offering Sanford for Brady, except, unlike Brown, Sanford is actually useful at the NHL level. But yes, there's no discussion to be had here. Thomas is not available.

I stand corrected. Doesn't change a thing. Brown is most likely a decent AHL player, Thomas is most likely the future Blues captain.
