He wasn't even that good when he was healthy. He certainly isn't worth that AAV.

Agreed.

Its 1 year. Do what CAR is doing, paying the 1 year and getting him on a lower AVV the following the year

Yeah, but that 2nd round pick is not nothing. That's a lot to give up. Plus, as we've discussed many times, Hextall has REPEATEDLY said the Pens 1st and 2nd rounders are off limits.

I appreciate you looking at so many angles with AGM's, but you need a little more reality when making them. Hextall has been very transparent and lived up to everything thus far.

Too much AAV for Patrick. if we had our 3rd, it would be ok because we could yse that for the offersheet

Hes 22 and a former 2nd overall pick. Hextall knows the player very well. 6'2" and plays how the pens play. Could be a solid replacement for when Rust leaves next year because Poulin and Lagare should be groomed in bottom six like sheary rust etc were.

LOL ok man. Just trying to help here. You like to fly in the face of what the realities actually are. Also, there are ZERO comparables between him and Rust.

Im just saying it wouldn't be a bad idea? again he's only 22. not like GMJR trading a 2nd for a expiring ufa thats 35.

Giving up a 2nd round pick for someone who isn't worth a 2nd round pick is a bad idea. Yeah, he's only 22, but right now he's not worth what you're giving up and also, Hextall won't make this move, so it's really a moot point.

I agree about the AAV but disagree with your principle. If you have the cap space and think Patrick can be good, then you do it. Giving up a 2nd sucks but ultimately Patrick is still a better bet than that 2nd.

Equally bad players are traded for 2nd/3rds at the tdl all the time

It's 1 year after a lost season due to sever migraines and other issues. He isn't worth it. We don't have the cap or the assets to try and go after a big "maybe" at almost 4 mill. And you also have to trade away the more productive player in Zucker to get the deal done.

You have neither the cap space nor the assets to get a player coming off a horrible season and a lost season due to brain injury the previous year. It is a horrible move.
