So you're giving Poehling (About to be our 3-4C), an unprotected 1st and an upgraded Lehkonen prospect (A year away from the league) for an upgrade at 3C?
Knowing he'll never be part of our top six centers with Suzuki and Dvorak already in place I feel that's a massive overpay and a useless trade.

Whats the scouting on Coughlan, I don't know him as a player ...

The 1st is too much for me. I'd also rather give Poehling a shot, but if he doesn't perform well he loses value. It's a risk to trade him before further evaluation, but neither him or Ylonen is proven, while Mittelstadt is at least a 3C.

Those two plus a 3rd is probably as high as I'd go. If that's not enough I'm fine with keeping Poehling and Ylonen.

As for why bother making the trade at all, I'd say we have the depth to run two middle 6 lines as opposed to a 2nd and 3rd line, and Mittelstadt is less of a question mark than Poehling right now. The trade doesn't work later because either Poehling makes it unnecessary by succeeding, or he makes it not appealing to Buffalo by failing.

I still think I'd stick with Poehling. Mittelstadt doesn't entice me enough to where this is too good to pass up. It does make sense however (if the price is adjusted).

I think we will all be very happy with Mittelstadt this year.
He performed really well once the Granato system was implemented and anchored the best line over the last 20 games.
But that offer is only a first round pick less than many MTL ACGM were offering for Eichel.
I do not know how I could refuse it.

Mittelstadt's upside is not that much higher than Poehling's. Adding Ylönen, a 1st is a non-starter until Mittelstadt proves he's top 6.

So you want us to pay approximately what we did for Dvorak for Mittelstadt, lol i wouldn't give more than Poehling, and like a 3rd for Mittelstadt

What you are giving up is more along the lines of the cost for Monahan, Pageau or Hertl (extended) not Middlestat. Don't get me wrong Middlestat has the potential to be a good center but at this point he is not worth much more than Poehling or Yelonen straight up and what is the point in making that trade from either side.

In what world is Mittlestadt worth that right now? Where is the comparable here?
