He wants an operation that has never been done on an active NHL player, and that would hold him off for two months, his current team wants an operation that keeps him out for 7-9 months. Under the CBA he's not allowed to get a surgery not approved by his team, so until the day he's traded or operated it'll be impossible to say how long he'll be out, because at his current state he won't be healthy enough to play.
