3rd line energy guy with a 2-way game. Dont see Ottawa doing that even though he would be exactly that

Doesn’t seem like a move the Sens should make at this stage, unless there’s a deal to be made for a bigger fish with that first round pick

That first-round pick is going to be 29-32 in all likelihood. I would consider that trade if it was in the 12-18 range.

I would say Brown is very similar to Coleman in this situation, I think if a strong prospect was there then Ottawa would do it

I think Brown will probably price himself out of Ottawa’s range in 2 years so I agree we need to move him but I’d rather a 10-18 pick or a 20-30 pick and a good prospect

I wasnt specifically referring to Tampa tbh. They traded the 20th OA + Foote for Coleman

I always thought that was an overpayment tbh but they won back to back cups do can’t complain

Well yeah it was in theory an overpayment so I dont think you should be too expectant of that for Brown

He posted 43pts in 71 games and 35pts in 56 games the last 2 years while being heavily deployed defensively . Both equal to about 50pts and 52 pts per 82 games while being very good defensively . Coleman and Hyman are his comparables

So one of the very last picks of the 1st round, a prospect who is less than 30% shot of making the NHL and Ottawa retains half of Connor Brown's salary while TBL takes him on 2 cup runs?? Nah. We'll pass.

Okay and? Coleman didn't move for a top 15 pick?

He moved for a 1st and Nolan Foote. Nolan Foote was a 1st round prospect so that was the equivalent of 2 1sts. Why would we trade Brown for a late 1st?

If you wanna be technical with it, this trade is Brown for a late first and a late second. And Coleman is better. So it's fair.

I just don’t think pick 29-32 will be worth it personally. Mayeb if we were starting a rebuild .I’d rather a better pick or at least a very good close to nhl ready prospect

Uh, you are mid rebuild? And like someone above me said, Brown will be gone at the end of his contract anyway.

We aren’t mid rebuild tho. The pieces are there to make 1 blockbuster trade and ending the rebuild for good. We are more towards the end. Jake Sanderson, Brannstrom, JBD , Gustavsson, Greig, Pinto , Sokolov all coming in. And the young players taking a step to get better

Yeah no, Ottawa isn't at the "mid rebuild" lol

Doesn't mean they'll win cup soon but the rebuild is over. Doesn't mean they won't be able to add a player or two on the way but most of the players needed are already there or on the way. Just need a bit more time to all come together

Not targetting anybody but quoting the 3 posters who were involved in this conversation.

Just wanted to post some Connor Brown insight as he still seems to be way undervalued. Sometimes it takes time until the news reach everybody

Connor Brown is approaching Selke Winger level

- He was 2nd in takeaways last season (behind Mark Stone of course)
- He received Selke votes (17th)
- Total beast on the PK : routinely gets more scoring chances than the opposition
- used heavily in a defensive deployment (34.0 oZS% vs 66.0 dZS%) but still provides good offense (61st for Even Strenght Points among NHL players since 2019-20)
- He has scored at a 24 goals/50 pts pace in Ottawa (127 GP)

His speed, non-stop motor and flawless work ethic is a beautiful thing to watch. With only a 3.6 AAV for 2 more seasons... way too valuable for Ottawa. They won't trade him for a late 1st and a prospect, maybe at the 2023 trade deadline if they decided to not extend him
