San Jose would be getting the steal of the century with this trade. Fortunately for Buffalo fans, there's no chance Adams would do this.
To begin with, Karlsson and Vlasic have NMC's, and there's no way either one of them wants to leave San Jose for Buffalo.
More to the point, Karlsson and Vlasic are owed $99.75 million on the balance of their contracts, while Skinner is owed $52 million. Eichel's $50 million doesn't enter into the equation because unlike the three stiffs, he has enormous on-ice value (at least from 2022 on). Karlsson stopped having something to play for years ago, and Vlasic is Zdeno Chara without the speed.
This deal is essentially four years of Eichel for one year of Hertl, Bordeleau, a future first and a current third. I have an extremely low evaluation of Eichel's trade value, but this isn't close to what he's worth even if he sits out the entire 2021-2022 season.
