Rakell would be nice, but I don't see Winnipeg giving up a first and a young, roster player for a rental, that's a huge overpay. A normal rental price like a first and a B/C prospect maybe, but that would be about it.

I don't think Vesalainen carries that much value any more, and the pick is pretty much 20-25 to 35-40. So a decrease of maybe 10-20 spots, a cap move, and a declining prospect.

You might think that, but the Jets don't. Vesalainen played pretty well in the time he got last season. Most people don't realize that the majority of players aren't playing full time in the NHL at 21, so Vesalainen is developing fine and should be playing even more this year.

As I said at a normal rental price the Jets might be interested, but Rakell isn't exceptional enough to be worth more than any other rental normally gets at the TDL as you proposed here.
