You're trading away two team leaders in Kreider and Trouba (which will never happen with their NMC) both of which can also play physical and stand up for teammates, which the Rangers need TO KEEP, plus Chytil who is 21, plus 2 first round picks and 2 2nd round picks plus retaining salary on Krieder for Tarasenko who is injury prone PLUS they don't need another winger. He would take a spot from Kakko or Kravstov in top 6, which is NOT better long term for the team. Schenn is 30 and signed for 8 years at that cap, which is worse than the cap situation you seem to want out of with Kreider, and Zub has played all of 47 games in the NHL. The team gets OLDER, less physical, and doesn't really improve the cap situation much at all. Plus you give away the near future trading away 1st and 2nd round picks. Bad deal all the way around in my opinion. I'm sure you see it differently, but I wouldn't do any of these deals.

Fair enough but i dont like the team leader point i think its important but cap space is more imo

Exactly how do your proposed moves save cap space? Rangers get Zub $2.5/year for 2 years, Tarasenko $3.75/2 years and Schenn $6.5/8 years, PLUS keep $2.5/year of Kreider on the books for 6 more years. That totals $15,200,000 for the next two years. Trouba and Kreider together = $14.5/year cap hit. For the next 2 years, you lose cap space. Plus the team get OLDER, LESS PHYSICAL, and has LESS LEADERSHIP PLUS you give up 2 first round draft picks. It's crazy. Then, if you want to keep Zub after 2 years, he will want a raise, plus you still have to pay Kreider and Sheen in his mid to late 30's. No Thanks.

Honestly yea i could see him waiving if he wants a fresh start and OTT is on the up i think he be the perfect pair with Chabot tbh

Getting a 1st and 2nd is tempting. Trading away Zub hurts but if Ottawa believes Trouba can do as good or better and be an ideal partner for Thomas Chabot, then they could consider this (let's say Trouba would accept to waive for Ottawa for discussion's purpose)

However the big problem here is Jacob Trouba AAV. But looking at his contract details, he is "only" owed 28 M$ for the next 5 seasons, which is an average of 5.6 per year... I think Melnyk would approve that!

Remove Zub and the 1st round pick, make it Trouba + 2nd for Nick Holden (can play RD, familiar with NYR, was pretty good in the playoffs)

    Chabot-Trouba
    Brannstrom-Zub
    Del Zotto-Zaitsev

Too bad Trouba doesn't want to play in Canada

I’m not sure why everyone thinks Trouba is drastically overpaid. He’s slightly overpaid. If he was at 7.25-7.5 nobody would bat an eye. Sure that 8 mil figure isn’t pretty, but he’s turned into a shutdown defensemen for us.

Wouldn't 7.25-7.5 be a bit expensive for a shutdown D-man? Vlasic was seen as the best shutdown D-man in the NHL for a while and he finally got a 7.0 AAV (which is now considered one of the worst contracts). Ryan McDonagh is one of the very best and has a 6.75 AAV, had better numbers than Trouba in the past and constantly got Norris votes. Or is Trouba better than Adam Pelech for example? Pelech is starting a 8 years x 5.75 AAV contract this season.

We could go on. I can't say exactly what Trouba AAV should be but I think it shouldn't be more than that, he's at least 2.0-2.5 M$ overpaid.

No, I think what you posted is 100% wrong. How you interpret that to mean I think everyone is wrong is your intellectual failing.

I don't care that much about this Trouba debate in particular but I care more about the logic flaws in what you're saying... Do you have anything tangible outside of your own opinion to support this argument? How can you say something that subjective is 100% wrong??? Doesn't make any sense at all.

Or is it just because I'm a moron too?

Maybe 10-15, which is a lot less than I normally would in 2 non-pandemic seasons. I am a pretty big Zibanejad fan

Why do I need to answer your nonsense? You have no idea how Trouba has played with the Rangers, or how glad the entire organization is to have him, so engaging with your foolishness is just a waste of time.

99% of people that post here about the Rangers know NOTHING about the team or hockey in general.

Anybody that doesn't watch 100% of the Rangers games know nothing about the Rangers?

I have seen enough of Trouba in my life to know how good he is. I even said I would take him in Ottawa at his current salary (is owed less than his AAV)

The problem I have is more your insulting comments for something that is totally subjective

When people make ridiculous statements about teams and players they don't even watch play all the time, then they deserve what they get. Someone posts something about Trouba and they don't even watch Ranger games, so they have no clue how valuable Trouba is to the Rangers, except what they read on this silly forum. When someone makes a reasonable post, even one I disagree with, they get a polite and reasonable response. Half wits get what they ask for.
