Jones is tiny. Fox and Lindgren aren’t big either and neither in Lundkvist. Robertson, Miller and Schneider will bring the requisite size needed to ensure we aren’t outmuscled on the backend. If guys hit potentials I’d love to see Lindgren-Fox, Miller-Lundkvist, Robertson-Schneider as the pairings with a vet as 7D.

I’d be game only if the contract isn’t another anchor. We got enough of those with Trouba, Kreider, Goodrow and potentially Mika on an extension.

Kreider and Trouba will be gone in 2024 so as long as we win the margins we should be fine

Hopefully. Only long term deals we need to sign are Mika assuming it’s somewhat reasonable and Fox. Id bridge everyone else except for Laf and maybe Miller in the $4.5-5 mil range for 6 years depending on his development.

shortsighted comment. Our LD pool is pretty strong with Hatakka, Kniazev and Pasichnuk. Knyzhov is quite a good player as well as he went from a development camp tryout to a top 4 mainstay in 2 years.

Not that I oppose adding a 4th round pick to this trade, but is that really a make/break for this trade? Sharks get Chytil, Jones and a 1st round pick....how much does a 4th round pick add?

Vlasic is still an NHL caliber D man just not a 7 mil a year guy (not sure he ever was)
Simek is not in our future plans.. but he is here and is capable. and I'd rather not have players playing of hand if I can help it, especially as they are making the jump up to NHL.

and that 1st and Chytil are almost enough to pull off the deal Schneider is a bonus for us.

Which is why it will never happen

Knyzhov looks really good and he was probably our best D minded D man last year as a rookie (better than Ferraro even but Ferraro give us solid D and offense)
Simek and vlasic are more than capable albeit underwhelming at their current cap value, and Pashinuk Hatteri and Kinazev are all looking solid and will be contributors sooner than later.
I've followed the sharks and our scouting for a while and what we lack is solid RD depth, we have enough LD that can play RD if needed what we need is legit RD help for the future.

ok then the deal probably never happens and you guys are left fighting for Eichel who will be injured and is 10 mil a year and will cost a hell of a lot more than Hertl.

It's more of a nice-to-have, but if we decide to go all-in on the rebuild (and we should), then we could use all the draft picks we can get to add to our prospect pool. It would be an affordable loss for the Rangers since they have two picks in that round, and our scouting has a knack in finding NHL regulars and hidden gems in the later rounds of the draft.

Yeah, understandable, but like I said, is it make or break for the trade. Your post seemed to indicate without it, no trade, and that seems kinda picky based on what the Sharks would get.
