I for one would prefer Boldy and Rask plus 1st and 3rd picks (as compensation for taking on Rask's contract) for Hertl, but a 1-for-1 tween Fiala and Hertl would not be bad for the Sharks either. The question as you mentioned is Kane and it's speculated that the investigation may end as inconclusive, meaning he'll might not be fired out of a cannon via contract termination. I do see a need for a player like Fiala on the Sharks but we have lots of expensive contracts to get rid of this season and next, not to mention the elephant in the room wearing number 9...

Easy decline for the Sharks, sorry. Having Fiala wouldn't hurt but we already have a decent amount of wingers. Issue is that the Sharks need futures back for Hertl, not a 1-for-1 swap. Something like 1st rounder + good prospect as a baseline. Fiala just doesn't make sense (and I also think Hertl expiring is more valuable)

Minnesota probably say no. Fiala isn't a free agent, and also he can't sign a new contract till summer where he has 1 year left.

I think Hertl goes sometime from midseason to the TDL for more of a futures deal than a hockey trade.

I also think MN runs with what they have until they see how Addison, Boldy, Gaudreau, and Rossi fit/play for the first part of the season. Then they make adjustments as needed from there.

I've been playing around with a midseason futures trade with Hertl to MN. Either SJS retains or MN accumulates enough cap space to make Hertl work and basically just add Hertl to the current roster. Figure out what to do with Dumba, Fiala, Greenway, Hertl, and Zucc before the draft.
