Description
I've been noticing quite a few AGM threads about Tomas Hertl trades, and it's no secret he could be on the move should the Sharks continue to struggle this upcoming season. With this in mind, I feel it may be worth sharing the trade values I personally feel your team should pay in return for Hertl's services. Assume each trade will come with a $7.25M x 5-7 year extension thereafter.

This list will just include frequently recurring Hertl target teams: Boston, Minnesota, Montreal, NY Islanders, NY Rangers, Ottawa, Philadelphia, and Toronto.

However, if anyone has any good comps, share them and I will add them to the list here.

Update: I made an adjusted price for the Habs.

Why is the Habs trade so much lower in value compared to the rest though

From Rangers stand point, the ask of 4 pieces is a little high, but considering the extension assumption, I think its a deal Drury should do. Getting Hertl for 5 to 7 years at that cap hit is worth it IMO. Plus, it has the added bonus of putting to bed all the idiotic Eichel trades.

For the Rangers, it would really depend on the extension. If they can get him at 7mil, it should be okay long term. Some people on here are valuing Hertl at over 8million, which becomes unbearable from the NYR side

I would consider trying to get Georgiev from NYR, though, to help with the goalie situation. Maybe replace him with the 1st round pick or Jones, or some combination thereof

Boston is not trading Lysell or a player they just barely signed as a UFA, that’s bad business.

1st and Debrusk is the starting point with a 3rd mid level piece negotiable. And despite what you believe Debrusk has more value than Haula.

As someone else mentioned why is everyone else giving up a premium prospect and Montreal is just Poehling who looks like a 3rd liner.

Why is the Habs trade so much lower in value compared to the rest though

Ideally, I would also add in another youngster like Romanov or Evans.

Update: added Romanov to the trade. A good young D and could be a good fit with Ferraro and Knyzhov in the back.

The islanders arent a fit really.
                  1. We dont need any centers.
                  2. Our forward group is already set.
                  3. While its a good price for hertl, the only player id want to spend big money on is a premium RW to play with barzal. Im not sold on hertl at RW and im talking about an elite player (tho it would cost more than 7.25 probably).

The good thing about this acgm is all the trades are consistent.

I’d rather role with Chytil as 2C or sign someone as a 2C short term than freaking trade for Hertl at this price.

I am sorry but Minnesota isn't doing that. Tomas h , a free agent isn't getting a 1st round pick,, and Minnesota top prospect in matt boldy. That is just straight up unrealistic, and never happens. . Take out matt boldy

I think that Montreal would replace Guhle and another prospect for Romanov and make it happen.

Also, with the draft being in Montreal next year I cannot see them giving up their 2022 First Round pick. In 2023 or 2024 they would though

Why do Bruins fans want DeBrusk out so bad that he HAS to be involved? If he has value as you say, anyone should be interested in him, although I’m not sure the sharks would be. Seems like he’s a cap dump to make the move possible but you guys just don’t want to call it that.

Have to move out salary to take salary in. Only have 1m in cap space. Not many other pieces they can move that can accomplish that. Moore and Wagner don’t add value to the trade just the opposite. Everyone else is either needed or just barely signed as a free agent. Debrusk is the only salaried player available to be moved that adds value to the trade.

Been plenty of rumors around Debrusk being moved as well.

Since when is a 24 year old that has averaged 22g per 82 games a cap dump?

I don't think this accounts for where Hertl wants to play. You aren't likely to get a top prospect if the market is limited to 3 teams. When you add the extension price, you're probably limited to 1 team.
If he opens up to more destinations, you're looking at a rental price instead.

From Ottawa perspective, it's a price I can live with assuming would want to play for Ottawa and sign an extension

Those pieces are players at positions they won't need going forward

However, I'm not sure they'd gamble their 2022 1st round pick... If you change it for 2023, the trade might be accepted

So long as a 1st round pick is included, we can defer to 2023's draft. While not as stacked as 2022, Michkov is likely eligible for that year and other players will be available so I'd be okay with changing it to 2023 1st round pick.

If he is moved in pre-season, its gonna be a lot less than these offers considering (a) its so late in summer and (b) he has near-full trade protection.

Late 1st and good (but not top-50) prospect.

He is a cap dump but doesn’t have negative value. I think he value, maybe just not to the sharks who don’t really need more wingers. Not sure they would trade for him in a Hertl trade and then try and trade him for other assets. Seems like that is just unneeded complications. I could see you guys trading him for a pick and including that pick in a trade for Hertl.

Yes but he doesnt really show a lot of effort on the ice. He looks scared to get hit also. Im not saying hes a cap dump bc hes not, but there is some concern there. Its not just the goals that come into play. (Also this year he was on pace for 10 goals over 82 games [5 in 41] so his value does go down bc of that).

He also had a lot of issues off ice that lead to last year. Depression, injuries, caught Covid. A few internal things as well. I’d say it was an anomaly. He does need a change of sceney. I see another Anthony Duclair situation. Good start. Fell apart. Back to being productive. Hopefully he doesn’t take a few years to do it like Duclair.
