Not Carolina. Don’t think they’ll bring in any other locker room or off ice troubled players. You can handle 1 (TDA), once you get more than 1 it can easily become a problem.

I mean realistically I have no idea who takes Kane but Carolina is showing they value winning and marketing. And while Kane isn’t exactly Crosby type marketable, he does create buzz through his talent/ play and with his HDA. And he helps winning.

Though it’s really a spin the wheel situation for who will bite on Kane

Oh I don’t think they wouldn’t do it in a vacuum. I just think that RBA thinks he can handle tda but having two potential headaches feeding off each other (or fighting each other lol) would be worth way less than the points they might put up on the ice for a short time

        Oh, **** me...

Whelp, if that's the case then the Sharks will need to A. bury him in the AHL or B. make a trade. The above trade to Carolina makes sense from our end, but will they be willing to add more locker room cancer after bringing on Tony DeAngelo? I dunno how Canes fans would feel about that, so let me know what you think

Another alternative that comes to my mind is the Coyotes. They're actively tanking and they have cap space to deal with his contract. Question is, with lots of impressionable youngsters getting blooded into the NHL after this season, will they put up with Kane's... misadventures?

I doubt the the rest of the league does them a favor, they'd much rather keep the sharks in purgatory

It’s only makes sense from a Carolina objective perspective regarding winning:

        Svech - Aho - Turbo
        Kane - KK - Necas
        Nino/Trocheck - Staal - Fast
        Etc - etc - etc
They’d need to move money like Trocheck or Nino both expiring UFAs it would require movement for them but it makes them really scary and deep especially for a 1 year run before Nino/ Tro expire.

As for Arizona I do see a fit, even more so because they just moved out of the Pacific. But as you said it depends on what their projection is for the culture and if they see any light in Kane

The only way I see Carolina taking a chance with Kane would be if he is bought out and the Canes sign him cheap on a try me deal. You know, the deal that ADA is currently on. But if the Sharks end up trading Kane, they will likely have to retain half his salary and pay to dump him. It has gotten so bad in SJ that the rest of the TEAM wants him gone. You can’t tell me that no one is going to exploit that situation. SJ will most likely end up losing more than they gain in whatever situation comes up.

Must be a GM in the board meetings if you doubt it.

Realistically yeah no player or Kane calibre and health is on the market, if he isn’t terminated he will be traded I doubt teams won’t bite on a valuable top 6 winger worth his cap with guys like ADA finding jobs and Mailloux being drafted. Much worse than an addiction/ teammate issue.

Kane being had for 3rd or mid pick attached with an incentive would happen before 3.5 m retained. No reason to retain a guy who performs his 7m cap hit, regardless of the situation you’d just burn bridges as a GM if you want Kane but ask for incentives and 3.5m.

The guy literally is better than most players in the entire league.

The last thing the canes need is 2 locker room cancers. ADA is bad enough, but mixing him with Kane will tear this franchise apart. Maybe if he is lucky, the KHL might be willing to take him. I mean they took an alleged rapist in Virtanen. Mind you, it would probably be Spartak, but who knows?

It’s not like anyones suggesting Tampa or Colorado take the deal. But their are plenty of teams who both can fit him with a win now mentality and teams who quite literally could use it to hit the cap floor and get 30+ Goals

Yeah, not very many can swallow the whole $7M x 4 without blinking. I think SJ takes $3-4M in cap back rather than retain though.

SJS could eat a full 6-8m, if it means moving Kane and taking on a cap dump for 1-2 years there’s no reason why the team shouldn’t do it to move Kane

this one honestly makes the most sense if kane is able to play until the end of that contract

If our experience is anything to go by, he'd actually be alright for the first 2-3 seasons. It's the seasons thereafter when stuff hits the fan.

I find the condition pretty funny, imagine they just scratch him for the first game of the season and save themselves from losing a second-round pick.

that's ok he's under contract for four years so if he becomes a cancer again you can trade that contract for another haul (if he's still playing)
